I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Oh yeah. If ever I seek another 06 I'll likely go EW. They seem perfect to me.

I just put this one together last summer it is the only .30-06 that I currently own. M70 Classic SS FWT in McMillan Hunters Edge stock, 7lbs 1oz as pictured. I went through several .30-06 rifles to finally get to the one above. My first .30-06, M700 ADL traded + cash for a Savage 99A Brush Gun in .358 Win. My second .30-06 JC Higgins M50, bought this one after I traded my ADL as I decided I needed a .30-06 again. Rifle was sold after I put together the SS M70 in the first picture. My third .30-06 M70 FWT Classic in a McMillan that I bought of Karnis to use for a project and I decided to go a different direction. My fourth .30-06 M70 FWT Classic, bought because I didn't want to use Karnis's rifle but this one was nicer than I wanted to use for my project as well. My fifth .30-06 Stevens 200, bought it cheap and sold it cheap to a young man for his first rifle. My sixth .30-06 just an old Savage 110 that again found too cheap to pass up but passed on to another young hunter. Finished project was a 8lbs 9oz all up .338-06 built by Weaver Rifles as pictured.

63 Model 70 Standard 30-06 refinished and accurized by our very own BSA. Fast becoming a favorite. Like an old friend.
JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

Pre-64 Model 70 Featherweight, bought new in 1961 and dressed up a bit over the years: Has taken more game than any other rifle in the safe, by a long shot

Mine don't even have any glass on it.

Plain old stock Rem 700 ADL, paid $350 about 20 years ago. Picked up a Ti stock on here, and sent it to Karl for a facelift, ,now it looks like this...

This thread is making me want to push all my other rifles to the back of the safe and focus more on just the 'ol 30-06. Really, if a fella could shoot it & shoot it very well; it's all you need for any animal on this continent.
Am I right?

To hear some tell it, a 3o-o6 is kin to a muzzle loader. It's just too old and out dated.

Here's both of mine. The heavy has shed the MK4 16X, will soon be wearing an SWFA 12X. The sporter has a Leup 2.5-8x36 onboard. Kind of a heavy/light pair

It's the perfect setup for me, not too light or too heavy, stock design fits me like a glove and recoil is extremely well controlled. I finally found MY go to all around big game rifle. Can't thank BSA enough for selling it to me.
