I once got to shoot a BSA Lee Speed that was owned by Col. Patterson DSO.
Got to shoot a Johnson 1941 Light Machine Gun; very rare item.
Got to shoot an MP-44 assault rifle; just one magazine.
I've shot lots of really cool guns, but those three are real standouts.

I've had a heck of a lot of fun with a couple Thompsons.

An M60 was sort of fun to shoot.

My grandfather's 1911 that he carried during WWI.
The other memoriable handgun was a custom 500 Linebaugh 4 5/8" super blackhawk with stag grips. Absolutely brutal with full patch 440gr loads.
I have no doubt full auto would be fun, haven't had the opportunity yet.

When I was on my first Navy ship,1967, we qualified with 1911's, Winchester '97 riot guns, and Thompson's. Damn, that was fun--
Later I shot M14, M60, Uzi, and once, a LAW

I got to shoot a rolling block (Pedersoli?) in some weird caliber. It had a hair trigger and was heavy as hell but when I touched it off, it brought a huge smile to my face. The guy that owned it was going to use it for buffalo in Delta Junction in the fall.
Also shot a custom Smith in Wesson in 500 S&W while on a float hunt. I fired it into the river right at dark and it looked like the parting of the red sea and shot a flame about 2 feet. I thought that was pretty cool.
That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

Got to shoot a Mauser Magazine rifle built by Boss. And anyone who knows anything about Boss, they never made magazine rifles. But there's a half dozen invthe books that were requested by "special" customers. It was rather plain, but magnificent at the same time; perfect hunting rifle.

M1919, just like my dad used in the south pacific. A suppressed Uzi was fun, especially since I wasn't paying for ammo.

I got to shoot Jack Lott's 8ga double from a bench rest, when I was a gunsmith at Pachmayr's. I remember a lot about that shot.

I got to touch off an honest to God Le Page dueling pistol once, actually twice. Other than that the M-60 was the most fun you can have with your clothes on. On night shoots we would play tracer bounce. Bust off the non tracer rounds and pop off just one and only one tracer to a spot you know it's gonna bounce and wait for the golf clap.

Being involved for years in WWII reenacting, I was around a lot of cool "gas" guns. Like the Vickers that was used in Second Hand Lions (belongs to a close friend). All kinds of BFA'ed MG 34's and 42's, etc. but as I mentioned earlier. The live fire of the Maxim was the coolest. Like shooting a full auto target rifle.
