That's pretty cool with the visible shells. My father was on an LST at Kwajelein, Eniwetok and Tarawa and he said at night you could see the red hot shells going overhead during the bombardments.

and the custom 458 mauser that used to belong to Ken Howell that Ed "To ManyLetters" now has that was made by Iver Henrikson and has a stock designed by Elmer Kieth....that is a sweet rifle to shoot off hand

But the 203 was fun. We hadda guy, Worrell from Mt. Pilot NC, put a 40mm in your lap. Effortlessly. (Really spell check is good with that).

That's cheating!!!

I have a friend who called in fire from the USS New Jersey in Beruit. Said it was the most impressive thing he'd ever seen.

Coolest gun I ever shot was an old Stevens pump 12 ga that was my Dads. That was almost 60 years ago. I lost Dad in August but still have the shotgun. It's still the coolest gun I have or ever will.

A 50-70 govt sharps carbine, full auto M4, round of trap with my 16x16x9.3 72R hammer drilling, tommy gun, full auto mac-10 and the 500 S&W all were pretty cool.

Toted a M3 for a short while during my second Nam tour. Shoot one with a stack of tracers and you'll be subject to arrest for excessive fun. Didn't know they even made .45ACP tracer...then the supply sergeant went "psssssst"...

30 round stick seems to shoot half the day?

Surprised to hear the Sten was that much fun. I've also had a good time with the M14, the MP5 and one of the old Vietnam runs of the CAR15, (10.5 inch barrel with 5.5 inch flash supressor) It had such a pretty voice....

When I was in college an elderly lady that knew my parents called me and gave me a trapdoor springfield that had belonged to her husband. He had been killed on a hunt in Canada in the late 1940's and the rifle had been in her basement for over 30 years. It took months of work to clean off the rust and grime without damaging the rifle. The bore was in surprisingly good condition, but the rifle was missing its firing pin. A local gun shop had one in a junk drawer.

I've had it for forty years and only shot it a few times. It is hanging in my den now and one day will be handed down to one of my sons. Shooting that old warrior after bringing it back to a presentable condition after it suffered years of neglect was just cool.

I fired a full auto Thompson SMG (45 acp). We were told to try to get a three shot burst on full auto. grin Guess how that worked out. grin I think our 30 round sticks burned off pretty quick, like maybe two trigger pulls. wink It was fun.

Another one I liked a lot was the C8 military type AR-15 with the 14.5" barrel. (semi auto only) but a real serviceable combat weapon and a ton of fun.
