Our local gun show usually sucks but yesterday I got lucky....scored a mint condition NY Kimber K22 Hunter with 3 position safety and nice dark timber with some good figure for a great deal. I've always wanted one of these. I took it apart and cleaned it last night. The fit and finish of this rifle is top notch. I mounted a Leupold 3-9x33 UL EFR that I had on another rimfire and gave it a test run at 50yds first thing this morning with some of the better ammo that I had on hand: Lapua Midas +, Wolf MT, and SK HV HP. I didn't have much time to work with it but it shot well, trigger breaks like glass at 2 1/2 lbs, and mag feeding was flawless. Empty case ejection was excellent as well, as long as I didn't limp wrist it. Overall, I'm very pleased with this little gem and looking forward to spending more time with it.

That's a beauty for sure but 3x what I paid for this one + I'd never want to take that SA out of the safe!

Very Nice. You have Scored the Holy Grail of Kimber .22's as far as I am concerned.

You have an excellent .22 rifle. I bought my Kimber Hunter about 12 years ago and it has become my favorite rimfire rifle.

MCT3: Wow - what a great Gunshow find!
Looks great and shoots great - good for you.
A few years back I was over to a Gunshow in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana.
I came home with an absolute mint and beautiful Kimber M-22 "HS" ("Hunter Silhouette") I have been just thrilled with this Gunshow find ever since.
My Rifle also has an excellent trigger and shoots VERY well indeed.
My loading log (where I also keep my rimfire ammo testing results) shows that my Kimber also liked an ammunition I described as Wolf SV solids.
In fact I fired a 5 shot group at 100 yards with this stuff that measured .884"!
It is kind of RARE for me to ever fire a group at 100 yards with my 22 rimfires that measures under 1.000"!
My Kimber has a Nikon Monarch 4.5x14 variable scope on it.
I use my Rifle for small game and Varmints so I needed to test hollow-point ammunition and the two cartridges that shot the best for me were Winchester 40 grain Power-Points and CCI Mini-Mags. I hope you get to try these two cartridges as they are both very lethal on small game and Varmints.
Again good for you and the nifty new Rifle.
By the way magazines are a bit difficult to come by for these Rifles so be forewarned in that regard.
I think you may have just set a land speed record for buying a Rifle at a Gunshow getting it home, getting it prepped, scoped up, sighted in and posted about on this forum!
You'da man!

You scored a fine one there sir. I have its twin except for it wears a Burris short mag 4-12. Truly excellent rimfires. I still prefer the Oregon 82's but there's no dust on the KoA's.

For me, I'd go with the OP's Kimber. I once had a Kimber of Oregon .22LR and eventually traded it. It was pretty accurate, but not as good as the OP's or my Cooper Classic, which is a keeper.

Thanks for the replies guys.

VG: I was pretty stoked about acquiring this rifle and couldn't wait to test it out. It really is a well executed rifle. I knew that I had a limited window of an hour to test it out the next morning and just wanted to make sure that it functioned and shot as well as it looked....very pleased so far. I was pleasantly surprised that it grouped the SK HV HP's similarly to the subsonics. I meant to bring some CCI Velocitors (one of favorite hunting rounds) that I have on hand but forgot them. I'll try to find some of the Winchester and mini mags that you recommend as well. The Kimber rimfire is new to me, so I'm interested in learning from you guys that have more experience with them than me.

Dirt farmer,
My preference on the 82 over the KoA's is actually because of the magazines. My K22 mags are a pita. All 4 that I have pretty much suck. I never experienced a problem with this on an 82.
Accuracy on both for me has been stellar.

Thanks, wareagle. I never compared the two guns.

I'm a Cooper fan and no longer have a Kimber rimfire.

Dirtfarmer I always had you figured for a snob, guess that seals the deal... Grin...
Those Coopers are hard not to like sir, though my blue collar pockets can't handle such.

I bought a Kimber Hunter a few years back and it quickly became my favorite 22. Never had any magazine problems with the 5 I have. I also picked up an SVT a couple of months ago and it's not going anywhere.

Figure I'd buy any others I run across from Yonkers too. I like em.

The SVT's are a fine bench gun. The specimeniI had would consistently do 1/4"@50 with Eley tenex and Midas M. Also had a Hunter HS for awhile too. High comb on the stock was just too much for me but she was a shooter. Pretty much all the KoA's from Yonkers are fine shooters. Still makes you wonder why they stopped production?

More $$$ to be made with full size rifles and 1911's. Not much to wonder about there. smile

Once I decided I wanted a Hunter they stopped making them and the Hunter's price jumped $100+ over night in our market. I had a tough time swallowing a $700 rf at the time let alone an over $800 one.

Now I want a Cooper, not sure which model ..... Now it's a $1800 bill. Want vs. have smile
