Not good video, but I think that's a cow too.

Quote
A man, age 51 with a life threatening heart condition (dilated cardiomyopathy), while snowmobiling out west with his son, comes upon a moose in the wild. Concerned that an animal attack might be about to happen, the site seeing experience goes bad when the moose, not wanting to be on camera, decides to charge. Coming over the snowmobile, the 1,000 pound bull attacks, kicking the Dad in the chest; the moose's intentions were clear. This was one angry animal attack. With only a hand gun to defend himself and his son, the Father fires a warning shot only to quickly fire 4 more to defer a 2nd attack..

Dumb ass that has no clue, making stoopid comments about intentions, finding out it's called a "strike" not a kick, and seemed to be looking for an excuse to "go cop".

Too many unknowns to judge.

How long had this gone on before the video begins?

Was that a viable trail to the left?

Was the snow deep enough to be seriously stuck if they tried to turn around?

Was it too far to travel if they turned around?

What happened after they got by and stopped in the clearing?

Did they put the moose out of it's misery?

Did they salvage the meat?

Actually at 34 seconds you can see the pedicel pretty clearly... I think it was a yearling bull.

Likely the machines have reverse and could have easily made it to a spot to turn around... Or waited more than just a few seconds. The entire video appears to be continuous and lasts for 1:15...

Advancing on a moose with ears laid back and hackles up does not give you the right to claim self-defense in my book. Had the idiot stood up on his machine and hollered at the moose it would have been far more effective at turning him... and then he should have waited a reasonable amount of time.

It was almost to the clearing and moose hesitated to go there. I believe he had been pushing the moose for quite a while by the look of the moose.

But I could be wrong...

Should have stayed back when he first stopped.

Perhaps could have backed up since he is driving a new-fangled sno-go.

Should have avoided the whoop-whoop noises and stayed silent, or used the gun early on if he felt noise might be useful.

Should have run a Polaris or 'Cat; Ski-Doos are known to attract unneeded attention. crazy

I'd call that a young bull based on the shiny knob you can see at around 0:35, probably a year and a half. I generally kill my bulls when they reach 2300 pounds or so. grin

Glad to see you mostly agree with me... wink

But I would not know a Ski-Doo from a pole-dancer...

At least we sometimes read the same book!

On the sex, I thought I saw a vulva patch when it turned.

OK, re-looked.

Pedicle seen. The light patch is probably the underside of the tail.

There are 3 switches. Geez, Art, I can't believe I have to explain this to you.

The pair of upper switches are generally a pinkish-brown and the lower one is pink.

Just be careful regarding the, um, low coefficient of friction once you get that baby humming at WFO throttle. Also, don't get anything stuck in the manifold.

Thank me later.

After reading that I tried coaxing mine out for a ride. You would think that something so damn expensive wouldn't be down for maintenance once a month! cry

Thank you. There are few subjects I have no opinion of at all, even when I know less. That one there is scarier than bear defense with a 38 Special however. You done good!

Manifold? (There are two!) Never mind, I don't think I want to know.

From what I can tell of the sled, it looks to me like a Ski Doo Summit. If that's the case, he could have easily gone around that moose or turned around. Dense trees? GMAFB, one could drive a truck through those trees and that sled is a long track so going around the moose would have been easy to do. And why did he follow the moose after it turned around and started walking away? Those sleds have reverse, so he could have easily turned around. I usually give the benefit of the doubt to the victim but in this case, he is totally at fault.

My wife was telling me about a video on Facebook she saw yesterday that really upset her and I think this was it.

That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.
