Now if they'd make a 3/4 ton to make use of it.

it's a 5 liter diesel, not really suited or meant for a 3/4 ton.

It's new news to me ED. Great. I felt that with Dodge, Nissan coming out with a diesel PU 1/2 ton, all assemblers would do the same. That's happening.

Diesel mini trucks, deisel 1/2 tons, deisel 3/4 tons, deisel 1 tons. Mercy. The Golden Age is quickly approaching. If I could get a quiet deisel Mid-size quad cab truck (like my old 2000 Dakota) that actually got great mileage for hunting and general run around, I'd be likin. Haul a couple kids and a dog, go weekend camping, tow a small travel trailer, get 25-30 MPG with 4x4 and a MANUAL tranny...

Now if they'd make a 3/4 ton to make use of it. The Tundra IS a 3/4 ton truck. The State of Texas requires that they be registered as such. Ed

Can someone story me up as to the advantages of a small 300 hp diesel over the 400 HP gas engine? Would the increase in torque make up for the decrease in HP? What would you expect the fuel usage of the diesel to be? I am curious because I will be looking to upgrade my 2011 Tundra in a year or two and I tow about 15,000 miles a year with it, currently towing a 8000 lb camper.
Thanks for any info.

A last dying gasp in a vain attempt to remain relevant from a brand that knows Ford is going to eat their lunch with the new F-150.

I like Fords too. F250's are the longest lasting vehicles on the road and that says a lot, considering what most are put through.

Fred Just having torque. That's what diesels do. You don't put the peddle to the metal with a diesel. Torque

A last dying gasp in a vain attempt to remain irrelevant from a brand that knows Ford is going to eat their lunch with the new F-150. Time will tell how this tinfoil truck will hold up. So by the time we know the Toyota will be on the market nearly 100 HP short of where the real trucks are?

I really wanted a Tundra when they were a mid-size (big enough to fit the kids in the back seat but small enough to get around the deer lease) truck. Now that they're huge, I'd just as soon get a Ford a LOT cheaper.

That is the best looking F150 ford ever built. Might have to trade the Tundra in on one of those puppys.

Well, they have to meet the new mileage requirements soon, so they are going diesel to do it instead of hybrid. Diesel prices are in between hybrid and gasoline, yet get about 20-30% better mileage to meet the minimum requirements. I heard Ford is going with aluminum frames on the F-150's to get the mileage up also.
