Last weekend was our annual javelina hunt here in southern Arizona - As usual, my wife tagged out opening morning and made an easy chip shot at 160 yards with her .243 on top of hill. She is shooting 80 grain TTSX's at 3,350'ish and was trying out a new scope to boot on this hunt. She made a perfect shot, as usual. I killed one later that day with the .22-250 Ackley at 403 yards again on top of a mountain. Pigs are already in freezer in the form of sweet mild italian sausage - Just one more good day in the desert. Glassed up some really nice coues bucks too. Our house is about 10 miles north of this area with the same views. Our own little slice of heaven for sure -

Looks and sounds awesome. Saw a couple of those things on my only hunt in AZ a few years back. How do they taste?

I am not familiar with that desert camo she is wearing. I had a few of those big rascals charge the caller on my last coyote hunt out near Wilcox. One gave me the stink eye, but finally moved along.

Great job. We got ours on Friday morning (opening morning). Been a few years since I shot one. The 108 Lapua was perfect medicine from the 260AI. I marinaded and grilled up the straps on Thursday night and they were actually quite tasty. Had a few folks stop by for a punch on their man-card. All claimed it was much better than anticipated!

Javelina are about the perfect introduction to western big game hunting there is IMHO. I wouldn't argue that point too much, but would probably put prongorn just ahead of the. That said, I do enjoy the late winter seasons on them.

i really want to head south and get one one of these days....think they are neat lil critters....and heading south to hunt them during the worst of our winter never sounds like a bad plan
A serious student of the "Armchair Safari" always looking for Africa/Asia hunting books
