Cliff, did you mean 1 3/8"? The Leupold catalog lists the ocular on the compacts as 1.4" which would approximate 1-3/8"...

I've had several of the compact series, got rid of all of them more than 30 years ago. Didn't like the eye boxes, lacked clarity, definitely not worth an ounce or two weight savings.
Agree that the 6x36 is very hard to beat, and only weighs an ounce or so more than the compact scope.

Now that's pretty Ted! I'm thinking the compact will work just fine on my 7x57, maybe not as bright as the 6x42 but the weight savings will be nice. I'm thinking the rifle will be close to 6.5# without scope. --- Mel
