My dad's 7x64 Obendorf action with a blued 25" 10 tw sporter barrel with no open sights, has a custom Germanic hogs back stock with a Ebony schnable fore end and deer antler grip cap, has a modified safety a Timney trigger, and a fixed 8X Khales on top.

He also has a few more FN's and Interarms that are sporterised

Certainly not best but this unfired Walther Model B Mauser 8x57 on the right I picked up whilst living in Canada is just a nice piece.

Not super fancy wood, but here is my FN Mauser in 257WBY. Getting a new PacNor Tube screwed on, 28 inches, and getting re-blued in a very dark, deep bright blue plus a Model 70 Style Safety added so will look a little different in a few months. A mule deer hunting rifle, pure and simple:

Not a beauty queen here, a pure working/hunting rifle on a 1917 Enfield aka BIG Mauser. Only the receiver and bolt body are left as original parts, bolt guts, trigger, everything else is upgraded. Cut rifled barrel in my wildcat 340 Tyrannosaur, (338/8mmRemMag) easily the most used, deadliest rifle in my safe:

Laminated stock re stained and finished to be a weatherproofe dead nutz reliable performer under all conditions, and it is. Needs to have the Limbsaver recoil pad re trimmed up a little where it is flaring some from sitting buttpad down in the safe and from the recoil of 225gr bullets launched at 3100fps. Lots and lots of now dead critters from Africa, Alaska and the Western US taken with this rifle.

Donsm70 and others,

My FN 257WBY has a dual tone light/then dark color pattern like the rifle above, but mine is a little less stark or bold. What causes that? What is this anomoly or feature called? I think it is quite attractive, but I am curious as to its commonality and cause as well as if this is considered a plus or minus, value wise, in a stock or stock blank.

I am thinking that you will know, or at least hoping or someone else here will. NICE looking rifle you have there, and a great caliber!

EdM,

Nice collection of FN's! You will probably get a bit of indigestion when you learn that my similar FN, now a 257WBY, was at one time a fairly rare 257 Roberts. I did not modify it, that was done before I came into posession of it and since the bolt and magazine have been modified for the bigger ROY 25, I am merely re barreling the well worn tube in that same caliber. I am sure it would be worth more than it is now had it been left as a 257 Roberts.

It's a 1936 Mexican mauser. Here are some close ups. Butch has one that is very similar. Perhaps he will post some pics.

Here's one that was built on a budget but turned out better than I would have ever expected.

Barrel; An old 8X57 "guild" 1/2 round 1/2 octagon barrel with a full integral rib bought off ebay for $100. The bore looked like a sewer pipe. I had it rebored and chambered for a .338-06.

Action; Legacy Sports double square bridge Mauser action bought on close out for $300.

Stock; A piece of Turkish walnut bought out of Luxus Walnuts "reject" barrel for $500. It had a huge bark pocket in it that was a real pain in the butt to fix. Shane Thompson turned it for me. He is the man when it comes to layout. He kept most of the bark pocket out of the stock and I filled in the rest. We used my pattern and I fitted and finished the stock.
