It's not overbearing, but it's a pain in the ass to remove brains and spinal tissue before coming home to Oregon with out of state game. I wouldn't eat a sick looking anything. The prion disease is rare in humans; I wonder if doctors even diagnose it correctly or at all?

Yeah, I have known about kuru for quite a while, but didn't want to muddy the waters. Take home message: if you eat your enemy don't eat the brains or contaminate the meat with spinal fluids. Same stuff you are advised to do with your elk or deer from CWD units, just to be safe.

I've never taken a spine or brains home. It's simple enough to wear rubber gloves when cutting off a skull cap. I wear them for dressing animals anyway. So far, luckily, CWD has never been found in Idaho.
