I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I think I speak for more than myself when I say, how irritating it is to us untalented, ham handed , do it yourselfers, to have a newcomer do such a fine job. It takes me 20 years to get average at anything. I am jealous.

Congratulations on a nice job. If you don't mind saying, who supplied your semi-inletted blank? It looks like a pretty nice piece of European walnut.

I don't know what to ad that hasn't been said by others already. It's a beautiful gun that I would be proud to own. Considering you did the stock work I would be super proud of it if I was you. You have talents most of us can only dream of.

Most people don't have what it takes to pull that off. Nice job!

Thanks everyone. I started this project as a tribute to my late grandpa who passed last year at 89. He was a career tool and die maker(50 years with the same company) , survivor of a kamikaze attack in the Pacific Theatre, and a great mentor. I can remember learning how to weld, solder, read a micrometer, etc as a very young boy. He always measured 4 times, cut a 1/32 long and hand sanded whatever he was working on to a perfect fit.
I used many of his tools, or tools he bought for me as gifts over the years. I used zero power tools and it took a while.
I have already started another stock, a grey pepper laminate from Boyd's. It took a while to inlet it as it looked at though it wasn't set up square in the jig when they rough cut the stock. I got her all glass bedded and I am keeping a running time of how long it takes me to checker.
Would I do this for pay? Yes I would. I am first finishing my projects. My 6 and 4 year old daughters have a model 70 at the gunsmith getting a new barrel and I am in the process of stripping and putting a slight pink stain on a stock for them ( hey they wanted a pink gun). Then I have 2 stocks for a friend of mine that needs checkering.
Once I get those done I will have a good idea and a 6 stock average to establish a price on. I can tell you that this is a part time thing and I cannot promise a fast turn around as my day job has me on the road a lot.
But I will keep anyone who is interested in the loop. Just shoot me a PM.

How did you learn to checker? Bought the tools and went at it.
