Didn't you notice any of that during your pre-purchase inspection and test drive?

When I was a kid we had an early 80s Oldsmobile Cutlas Diesel. I have never seen such a disaster of a vehilce. It finally caught on fire while my Mom was on the way to work one morning.

2nd place was a 1975 Dodge Dart. It had the old 318 V8 that ran great but the rest of the car was garbage. It leaked (rain) like heck and as a result it stunk like schitt ALL the time. As a kid nobody wanted to ride in that car. It had a real reputation!

Not me but my parents, they seemed to be the unlucky ones with cars. One of the was a 1984 Oldsmobile with that v6 diesel it had aluminum heads I think my not so bright dad traded it in after it wen through the 3rd set of heads in less than a year. Then onto a 88 chrysler new yorker with that 2.2 I4 turbo for a motor, I think the turbo went out on it. Oh they had this buick station wagon you had to sneak up on hills at night cause that thing was a pig pretty sure it was a 4 banger in that thing. Wow now I think about it my parent had some real piece of [bleep] cars.

83 GMC half ton truck.

POS motor, V8 305. Had no guts. Transmissions were lucky to make 30,000 miles.
One caught fire on a boat ramp pulling my boat out.
roof liner fell out at about 60K. Mirrors fell off. Body molding fell off. Silver paint faded and started to rust.

Every maker has bad years... this one sucked.

Best one I had.. 86 GMC 3/4 ton, almost 200K and still doing fine, but loosing compression. Though I think my current 01 F350 Powerstroke will be a better deal in the end. But only is barely broken in at 130K

Don't see very many recently produced vehicles mentioned here. Modern-day lemon laws tend to have that effect.

!981 Ford F250. First new one I ever had. Make matters worst I special ordered that truck in Feb. of 1980 and paid cash for it. Was quite simply an F250 4wd with a standard cab, 1 ton frame, 351 V8, 4 spd tranny, posi front and rear. Took delivery Dec 24th 1980. Biggest POS ever. Broke bellhousings and tranny cases 3 times in the first year. It was in the shop broke down 18 months out of the first 2 years I owned it [bleep] Ford

Own it right now............. but not for much longer.

2005 Ford Expedition 4wd 5.4L

Absolutely helpless, even with brand new BFG Mud Terrain TA's on it. A gutless gas hog. Makes 1.5-2.0 mpg LESS than my wife's 2003 Suburban 5.3L and the 'Burb (with 15 less HP) will whip its arse in a drag race.

My first and worst car was a well used and abused 1976 Chevy Vega. I paid $300 cash for it when I was 16. It used a quart of oil for every 5 gallons of gas. It caught on fire at the beach once and we put it out with Budweiser, let it cool down and drove it home. It ran like hell but we couldn't kill it for a while!

Without question, 2004 Pontiac Montana mini van the wife "had" to have. Biggest pile of chit I've ever owned.

I guess I've had really good luck and never really had a bad car. In fact at age 43 I don't think I've ever spent more than just regular stuff like batteries, oil changes etc...

I put 160,000 miles (my brother in law borrowed it for 50k of those) on a 1979 Trans Am and the day I scrapped it the air still blew cool.

My 1975 Blazer that my dad's old boss gave us (he's now my boss) 200k before it finally rusted away which was kind of understandable from driving a vehicle with the top off in the rain all the time.

My 1995 Chevy S10 was still putting along at 130,000 miles when I sold it to a guy and I still see him driving it around town when I'm there.

Currently I'm on a a 2007 Chevy with only 70,000 miles.

In fact during all that I don't think any of them have been "in the shop" with nothing but regular maintenance.

1984 Subaru BRAT. What a piece of crap! They had changed the body style to make it bigger, but had not upgraded any of the systems on the car, so it was very s-l-o-w. It broke clutch cables every 18K miles like clockwork. In the summer, driving up in elevation about 500 total feet from Greenwood SC to Northern Greenville county to SCUBA dive, you could not drive over 52 mph with the AC on high, or the car would overheat, you could watch the temp gauge climb. You could go 58 with the AC on low, but it got hot in the car. Going home, you could go almost 64 mph with the AC on high, but at 65, the temp needle would slowly climb.

I have other stories about it too, but that is the main stuff
