My 1975 Blazer that my dad's old boss gave us (he's now my boss) 200k before it finally rusted away which was kind of understandable from driving a vehicle with the top off in the rain all the time.

My 1995 Chevy S10 was still putting along at 130,000 miles when I sold it to a guy and I still see him driving it around town when I'm there.

Currently I'm on a a 2007 Chevy with only 70,000 miles.

In fact during all that I don't think any of them have been "in the shop" with nothing but regular maintenance.

1989 GMC Surburban. Second engine, third transmission, third rear end, fourth alternator, third starter, factory recall on front brake assemblies, rebuilt 4WD in axles. Windows roll down but not up, it was however; big enough for my family. I keep it wondering what will go wrong next but very rarely use it.

never really had a bad car... of course I follow the experiences of others before I bought....

I've had some individual cars, especially back in my college days... but they were pretty much junk when I bought them...

$50 for a VW with NO motor, or a shot motor... buy one at the junk yard for $100 and throw it in there... drive it 50 to 60 K and then sell it for $250 and do it all over again...

Those were VW Squarebacks, late 60s models...went from VWs to Volvos to Toyotas...in my adult life...

82 S-10 w/1.8L 4cyl. No problems with it but good lord was it gutless. Sister had an early 80's Datsun 210 that was also a gutless wonder. The car I had the most trouble with was an '81 Subaru DL, but, most of it was self induced due to abuse.

1980 AMC Eagle wagon. 'Liked the concept-a 4 WD wagon that had a little ground clearance. Not a bad idea as a "compromise" between a car and a SUV. What a pile of crap! You name it, it broke on that POS. Problems with the rear axle, brakes, carburetor, and it had that old straight 6 in it-I think it was the old Pontiac 230???? Leaked oil like a sieve. I replace the valve cover gasket at least twice, and the valve cover twice too. 'Guy at the shop told me I was tightening the valve cover screws too tight and warping it. Went by book specs the second time with a new gasket and new valve cover and it still leaked! It was a good idea, but a poorly made car.

78 Mercury Cougar. Bought it at a Moonlight Madness Sale. The battery had to be replaced before I left the dealership that night. Week later, the radiator started leaking and then came apart in the service lane at the dealership. Replaced the 2nd battery while the radiator was being replace. Replaced the 3rd and 4th battery during the next month. Electronic ignition control boxes started going out. Went through 8 or more of those over the next 2 years, along with another 5 batteries. The ignition switch broke in front of a convenience store. I had to pull the steering wheel off to unlock the steering to pull it home. Have a scar on my forehead from where the steering wheel hit me when it popped off. Power windows started failing. Galvanization of the gas tank started chipping off and plugging the fuel filter. Traded it off for an Olds 98 with the converted diesel engine. Drove that diesel Olds for 200,000 plus miles with no problems at all.

2001 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel- Truck went through injection pumps and lift pumps like candy, had a transfer case grenade, a slew of tranny issues, air conditioning compressor failed and it ate front ends like it was going out of style. It also rusted out around the fenders and the lower doors in short order.

They didn't let me bring a Trailer to hook up and Tow on my test Drive. It was a White truck!!!!It was raining that day, hard to see the defects in the rain. Trans shifted fine on the test drive. Truck should not have left the factory with paint like that. I bet Toyota would not have let it out the door with that paint job....

Didn't you notice any of that during your pre-purchase inspection and test drive?
