I went out yesterday and shot some ground squirrels. I was using some Remington golden bullet 22hp ammo I got several years ago. It seems that about 1/3 of it would fail to feed in my 10/22. That rifle is usually pretty reliable, and was feeding Federal ammo just fine.
I will clean the rifle and give it a try. Worrisome to jack so many rounds out given the current supply situation.
Regards,
Tom

I've never heard anything good about Rem 22's.

I'm using the same ammo of the same vintage without problem in my 10/22. Cleaning sounds like a good idea, and, maybe try a different magazine and make sure it is fully seated. I did have to take a magazine apart once because of a feeding issue. But, I don't recall the exact circumstances.

There will likely no be a better time to move excess Remington 22 ammo than now. It hasn't had great reputation for a good while but just about any 22 ammo is valuable at the moment.

Years ago about the only Rem ammo that functioned well in my 1022, were the Thunderbolts.
'Bout any sort of their Golden Bullet crap, especially that which was once packaged bulk in waxy "milk cartons", caused jams most of the time. Smoke stacks, failure to extract and eventually feeding issues, as the 1022 became gunked up from that gooey stuff.
Haven't bought much of any Rem 22 ammo in many years, as a result. Winchester, CCI and Federal, few if any issues over those many years.

Might be slightly improved since the last time I tried any Remski ammo, lo them many years ago? The only WW ammo I've ever liked, are the older Dynapoints. Still have some left from the days when they came in white boxes.

Measure the driving band. I had trouble with some Golden and Thunderbolts and they measured as fat as 0.228 . Worked fine in bolt action but turned a Ruger Mk and a S&W M&P22 into jamamatics.

Just ran 50 though my cz, good accuracy and no problems.. the only true crap ammo I had WW.. Same here. They always shot 3/4" or less at 50 yards in my CZs. No failures to feed or fire shooting BRICKS of the stuff. Then again, a CZ 452 is a manual feed bolt rifle with a decently snug chamber and a consistent firing pin strike. Unlike most semi autos.

Well, the only thing to do is to head back out to the desert this afternoon with the same ammo and different rifle and see what happens.
It's tough work, but someone has to do it...

Friend of mine has sent her new MkIII lightweight pistol back several times. This time around the Ruger rep told her she has to shoot only Mini Mags in it for proper results. WTH?
As for 1022s, my oldest clunker will digest anything from WW Wildcats to Mini Mags with nary a hiccup. Always has. Anything except gooey Remcraps.

So I went out with my old Remington 121 pump rifle. No misfeeds, as to be expected. I did have 2 misfires out of approx 100 rounds, which I thought was excessive. The rest shot fine and the ground squirrels they hit were promptly sent to the big grass field in the sky. They seem to kill a little better then the equivalent Federal hollowpoints. I have about four 525 round boxes of these. I'll have a better idea of performance when they are all gone......

2% misfires is pretty good for GB. Just for the sake of science, I ran some misfires through four weapons and printed deep pin strikes all around their rims. No go in Savage and Marlin rifles, or in T/C and ruger pistols. Some of them just don't get any primer, I guess.

I get more like 10-20% in a variety of handguns. I tried some in a 22/45 a couple of weeks ago and I had one round that would not go after 2 extra restrikes at different parts of the rim. Others fired on 1 restrike. The only reason I have not tossed my remaining stash is because I have not tried them with a rifle, and the rifle shooters appear to have better success.

A very high percentage of FTF in the wife's Remington 572, will fire in my CZ 452, guesstimate 75% or higher.

Such is often the case. I got quite a few WW 333 FTF rounds that were run thru a semi, to go bang in a bolt rifle. Not all, but quite a few of them.

I must be blessed, almost all the Remington ammo runs well in my guns ,in fact the thunderbolts a lot of people knock is some of the most accurate ammo in many of my guns
