I can't stand the movie and this series is making my ears bleed. I know we have an accent but it sure don't sound like any of the people on either the show or the movie. The Cohen's can kiss my royal red ass!
I will admit some of the Finlanders from the Iron Range have a unique accent though but by far not the majority of the people from MN.
Are you kidding? Fargo is one of the all-time great greatest movies!!
Wife and I have watched it at least 6 times- the Cohen bros. did a terrific job!
There . . . FIFY . . . . . (There are more than two all time great movies.)
"All that the South has ever desired was that the Union, as established by our forefathers, should be preserved, and that the government, as originally organized, should be administered in purity and truth." – Robert E. Lee
Plenty of Finlander accents in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. I'd have to assume ND also. But obviously not everyone and everywhere. I could see a fake accent bothering some. Does me at times, also.
That said, I'll give the show a test drive............
Between the fake accents and pandering slang not to mention making everyone look like bumbling fools that lives in outstate MN! I still invite the Cohen Bros to a hearty Deflave GFY!!!
I would think that North Dakotans, or all Northerners for that matter, would be proud of a lady like Marge, a pregnant, gun-toting law enforcement officer who thinks a 20-below blizzard is a 'nice day'.........
I'd rather be a free man in my grave, than living as a puppet or a slave....
The movie was hyperbole of course, that's what made it funny. Take it down an order of magnitude and it reminds me of real people I've known. Particularly the syntax. I'll give the series a look but from the few trailers I've seen I'm afraid they'll take the hyperbole hyperbolic. Way over the top which would make it obnoxious don't ya know.
What rings true about the movie is people don't run around with their hair on fire. This little town got snowed in for a week a few years ago, the only time in the 20 years I've lived here. People just checked on their neighbors, helped when they could, and waited for the problems to sort themselves out. Even the TV news guys were pretty much just the facts in reporting. No doom, gloom, oh the humanity come save us kind of crap.
