Seems like the 140's and 150's really shine in the big Wby. It has the case to send them screaming along pretty quick like. RL22 and 7828 should be just about perfect in that Wby..

71g R22 under the 150 Hdy SP duplicated the Wby factory load. It gave 3265fps and well below moa accuracy in a 26" Mk5.

Norma powders are starting to be availaible. I just picked up an 8# jug of MRP, a pound of N-217 (formally MRP-2) and a pound of URP (formally N-204).
MRP is pretty close to RL-22, some claim it's the same stuff. With MRP, you can pour Norma powder into those Norma (Weatherby)cases...
Keeps it all in the family, probably pretty close to Norma/Weatherby factory loads.

I just got my 270WBY together with a 25" Bartlein....
If I can get 3100 with a 150 at 1/2-3/4" in a 7.5lb scoped 270WBY I'm in heaven... Dave with a 25 inch barrel you could get within 75 to100fps of that with a plain old 270 Win. Accuracy is another story but I woulda' thought you'd do better for speed in a Weatherby?

It sounds like he is happy to leave a few fps on the table to get an accurate load with reasonable chamber pressures, I would do the same.
I have made one change in the above plan the Sako will become a 358 Norma Mag since it will be a simple rechambering of the 35 Whelen barrel (I have both a magnum and standard bolt with that action) The 270 Wby will go on my super smooth LH Rem 700 and should end up under 8 lbs pretty easily which will be nice to pack around the mountains here.... I didn't want to sell those guns for next to nothing so I'm keeping them both and am going to end up with both a 270 Wby and 358 Norma. Those two are replacing a 264 WM and 375 Ruger in my line up.

That 358 and 270 will be a perfect match Gerry. Should be an awesome combo. I really dig the Norma. What twist is the barrel your getting screwed on.

It has a 1 in 12 stainless King barrel 22" long which should be perfect as a bear and moose thumper that can reach out a long ways if necessary First up will be those 275 gr Barnes Semi Spitzers and Woodleighs of the same weight. The 200 gr TTSX is an intriguing bullet I may try, I'm low on 225's and 250's right now but will see if there is anything locally. Like with your 35 Newton I really hope to use the 225 gr Accubond as an all around load and some kind of heavy bullet as a close range thumper. We will see what the gun ends up liking.
Gerry.
