Yep on all that for the speed bead. Mine's on an M2. It looks kinda odd in it's placement but is really out of the way, very light, takes up no space, and still gives you the normal front bead.

I used a Bushnell/EOTech Holosight for years and liked the red circle reticle it had. Recently it took a major chit and it looks like Bushnell/EOTech won't fix it.

Eotech sights are better suited for ARs. Look at the small reflex sights like the Burris FF3. They mount lower than any other dot. Some of the other reflexes like what Truglo makes are too high for me as well.

The lowest you can mount a FF3 or similar is having your gun drilled and tapped for a 336 mount. Unless it's a mossberg, their factory spacing works for the 336 mount.

Here's one of my 336 mounts:

I put an EoTech on my 870 with a Pro Mag stock that has a high cheek piece for using with high optics. The advantage an EoTech outweighs the inconvenience of having a high combed stock.

By 336 mount, do you mean a Weaver style base for a Marlin 336? I've got a Mossberg that could use a dot sight.
