I just mounted a lyman tang sight on my 99eg .300. After only one adjustment, it was dead-on elevation-wise on a short zero, (27 yds). However, it was about 3" left on windage. Since my Lyman has no windage adjustment, I believe I'm going to have to move the front sight. It is in a dovetail so I don't see this being too much of a problem. Do I need any kind of special tool or will a regular hammer be ok? Any tricks of the trade or will this be another trial and error sort of thing to do? Also if memory serves me right, I need to move the front sight in the opposite direction of where I want the bullet to strike. Thanks--Bill

You have the direction correct, go gently with a lite striking plastic hammer and nylon or brass drift to avoid marking or damaging the sight. Move it from the base note higher up a little at a time.
