Rory - I am talking about a SRC.
And what I am referring to is an engraved SRC. Seems to me more than 30 1895 SRC's were made?

Now that I think about it, maybe there were more like 200 1895 SRC's made? I'm sure someone will jump in shortly on this. So, olgrouser, you just might be able to have more than one!

The photos in the early 1899 catalogs picture what is obviously 1895's with long cheek pieces, reverse curve forearms, 1895 buttstocks and the SRC has a barrel band. The 1895 SRC has a 22" barrel and the 1899 is 20". In the pictures in the early 1899 catalogs (1900 and 1903) the SRC (BB) barrels look longer than than the SRC barrels (non BB) pictured in the 1905 and later catalogs. If anyone has an 1899 barrel band carbine I'd like to know about to include it in my book. Thanks, David

David, we do think that the earliest 1899-F's might actually have been reworked 1895's. Two examples have turned up that lettered as 1895 SRC made during the 1895 production run but not shipped till 1899. Both have a 20" barrel and 1899 bolt. They have the barrel band and might account for the drawing (not photo)in the 1899 catalog. You can check with BillR for more details.

The factory drilled and tapped .308EG, the .358F, and the 1920 .250-3000 I hesitated on and lost over the last 20-years! If I were to wish up a new configuration, then I think a scaled down 99, much like the one in Murrey's book, chambered in .44 mag or .45 Colt would be cool.

Obviously something special order would be cool . . . but straight factory, I'll take a 300 barrel band.

I would just like to have the 99F .250 in 95% condition that I passed on 10 years ago for $550 because I knew nothing about 99's at the time.
