I am tired of having to switch lenses between my 18 - 55 & my 55 - 200. I have a Nikon 3200. How would the tamron 28 - 270 match up. Thanks in advance for your input

Your 18-55 and 55-200 a the kit starter lenses that both Nikon and Canon use intheir entry level kits. I have a 18-70 Tamron and love it.I carry a 10-24 Tamron extreme wide angle and the 18-270 Tamron in a small camera case and it covers 95 % of my photos.
Its small. lite. great optics and is in my back pack when I'm hunting or in a holster case when I'm on horse back. They sell for $449 with a $70-$100 mail in rebate.
Camera land sells them and have posted pictures taken with them in this forum.

For an all-in-one zoom, I would think the newly released Nikon 18-300 and new Tamron 16-300 or 18-270 should be considerations. I think you would find the wider angle range of 16/18mm to 28mm invaluable compared to the Tamron 28-300. Going from 18mm to 16mm will provide about a 5 degree wider field of view. It would be especially useful indoors and with landscapes, considering your crop sensor on the D3200. In looking at the MTF charts, it appears the Tamron 16-300 will be a sharper lens than the Tamron 18-270, especially on the short mm end. You may not lose any noticeable image quality going to an all-in-one from your 2 kit lenses; you main gain a little IQ.

The Tamron 18-270mm lens is a great all-in-one lens. I carry a camera with me everywhere I go. When it isn't a point and shoot for size, I carry a DSLR with that lens on it. Right now the lens has a $70 rebate and can be bought for about $379! Give Joel a call up at Camera Land for the best price. Make sure you let him know you are a member of the Campfire.

Here are a few pics I have done with the lens in the past.

Funny thing, on different photography site's I hear that to get the best photo's you have to buy OEM prime len's. Then those people that claim that, never post a photo right from the camera, post processing is always needed. Then I get here and see the photo's produced with after market lens, Tamron, and even if they are PP, they still look as good to me as most the prime lens stuff.

Really great photo's, once again!

Thanks! A good quality lens doesn't always have to have one of the big boys names written on it to be sharp. In addition, the value I have found in the Tamron lenses is great!

The Tamron 18-270 lens is a terrific lens. U;ltra sharp edge to edge and the color reproduction is dead on. Their new 16-270 is also a great option (only Canon mounts have shipped so far). The price difference is substantial. The normal price on the 18-270 is $449.99, $419.99 for campfire members and then you get $70.00 back from them. The new lens would be $599.99 instead of the $629.99 regular price with no rebate.
The Nikon mount is expected in within 2 weeks
