No where near 50 fps/inch. Here is a link concerning the similar 6.5 Creedmore. They only lost 55 fps from 26" down to 22"

Some more. The 270 only lost a little over 100 fps from 27" down to 21".

On the 7mm-08 I found as stated above, about 25fps per inch. I shoot a 20".
