Good day. I would like to try some 210g Swift Sciroccos in my 338 Win Mag. I have read that plenty of guys are having a hard time to get them to shoot really well. I have even read of a guy that measured the bearing surface on sciroccos and said that they were different from the same box. The reason why I would like to try them is the BC on them is pretty good for a 210g bullet in 338. What are your experience with sciroccos? Is it worth giving them a try? Another reason why I ask this is the sciroccos are on the expensive side around here, otherwise I would have just bought them and see what happens Thanks Pieter

I haven't used them in 10 years because of the accuracy issue, but that was in a .270 Win. They also penciled through on deer, but again that was 10 years ago and with the original Scirocco. I believe the Scirocco II was made tougher.

m77 I use them in my 338-06AI with great success. Not sure if you are worried about it, but on game performance is outstanding. I have gotten them o shoot under an in. at a hundred yds. Not sure if that's good enough for long range or not. Cabelas usually has them $75/100. Not bad at all. Good luck.

Swift Sciroccos are one of my favorite hunting bullets and my go to Elk bullet in my 338-06 AI and Deer bullet in my 243 Win and 6mm-06

I run the 150's in my 7 mag. They are the most accurate hunting bullet for that gun. Penetration and expansion on deer and coyote has been great from 80 to 297 yds. (haven't shot anything closer or further with that gun) I wouldn't hesitate to give them a try. The 2nd generation sciroccos have been consistent in size and weight for me.

The 100's are accurate and plain mean out of my 257Roy at 3600fps, I'd give them a go in your 338 for sure

Worth putting up with a little less accuracy for their performance on game, IMO. Won't come apart, penetrate well but not excessive because of large mushroom, high BC so they fly well at distance.
Seating depth is critical
I mainly shoot them only in my 6.5 rem mag, 130 gr @ 3200 fps, really puts down hogs, coyotes and deer. Haven't trapped one yet but nothing has moved from where they were shot. Seating depth at .060" off
Been thinking about the 210's in my 338RUM but haven't got around to it yet

The 130 is the most accurate 6.5 bullet in my 6.5x55, and the rifle shoots all bullets I have tried in it extremely well.

They are very hard bullets in my experience and make small wound channels in the medium calibers such as 6.5-270 and 7mm. Never shot any bigger than that. The 338s might be all that!

I use the 210 in my 338rum. Loaded .050 off per swift. They kill stuff. I shoot 2.75" at 300 yards prone on a bipod. I have killed lots of antelope from 250-432 yards, whitetails to 418 and 10 elk out to 370. Do your part and they do their part.

If the rifle is 'top notch' it all goes to whose behind the butt-plate!!

Seems SSII accuracy is a hit and miss proposition. I was loading 90 gr. SSII's in my .240, loading them long. I was getting 1 1/2" groups out of a half inch rifle. I started jumping them more, finally found a COAL where they would group sub inch, around .8" or so. I think COAL can be critical with some SSII's, not too unlike VLD's. At 3,400 fps, the 90 gr. 6mm SSII is probably a good choice for WT and general hunting. SSII's may "pencil thru" thin skinned animals, some rounds at slower speeds. The size and toughness of the game animal being hunted and the round being used would influence my choice of bullet. SSII's do have their place; no bullet is ideal for every situation. That's the challenge and the thought process that keep Loony brains churning... DF

Why do people say they are over priced? They are less than Partitions and Accubonds (at least the .338 are). Edit: in my informal bullet tests they performed exceptionally well.

Edit: in my informal bullet tests they performed exceptionally well. because they are typically twice as much as other premium bullet choices like accubonds, e tips etc. now days bullet technology is not hard to understand and nothing is magic anymore. I compare the SS 2's to other bonded plastic tipped bullets like the accubonds and interbonds. if either of those shoot well why pay for overpriced swift bullets?? you get no performance advantage. if you need more penetration go with a monometal bullet. if you need sleekness and long range go with a vld. There are simply too many choices to suit what you need, rather than paying extra for a bullet that offers nothing extra.

Try again. You get 100 per box of Scirocco IIs and 50 per box of Partitions & Accubonds, etc. Sciroccos are cheaper than Accubonds.
In fact right now on Midway, 200gn Accubonds are $38.99 for 50. Scirocco IIs are $69.99 for 100.
