I'm glad I spent the extra money for an all brick home. Does't stop the window damage, and ya can forget about saving the roof though. What a shame. Sometimes I think God is harder on us midwest people cause he wants us to stay tuff.

I have always wondered why they put vinyl siding on all the houses up there. Bricks repel hail, that simple.
Unless the state insurance laws have changed, you get damage on two sides, two sides get replaced only. Few states are different. Bricks cure this kind of damage.

I said something similar several times during the storm. Our office is block, faced with brick and a "hail proof" roof (we'll see about that). Some of the stones that hit it sounded like they just might come thru...far louder than any hail I've heard. My little Lincoln MKZ has $5k-$6k damage and really doesn't look too bad - except for the glass broken out. Seems that Lincoln is having a sale on the 2014's... + 0% interest for five years. Maybe we can make some lemonade from this after all.

We got it here in Vermont on May 27th, but not that bad. Holy [bleep]. Our hail was about golf ball size. 5 thousand damage on the house and about 6 grand between mine and my wife's vehicles. I can't imagine what those folks in Nebraska went through. I talked with the dairy farmer about a mile down the road tonight. He said he was milking when our storm hit. He said those Holsteins went ape chit when those hail stones started hitting the metal roof on the barn. He said it was deafening.
