Took my CZ 453 American to the range earlier in the week with a sandwich baggie full of 22lr I had found in the garage. I think it did pretty good considering using bulk plinking ammo.

All five shot groups at 50 yards.


I've only had it glass bedded and a DIP aluminum mag well installed. Scope is just a Nikon Prostaff 3-9. CZ offers a lot of rifle for the money IMO but that high azz bolt throw really irks me to this day. I'll get over it....

I highly recommend the Leupold VX2 4-12 AO fine duplex and good Eley ammo.

When I wanna show off I have Wolf match ammo. CCI SV wins the best value award though. I do want to upgrade the glass to a nikon 4-12 with mildots. Second week of deer season our hunting club doesn't have enough men to do our large drives and we pot hunt. Rainy days turn into talking trash about how far away one can shoot a rock with their 22lr. Hence the want for a little more magnification and the mildot reticle for substantially longer distances. Last year we were hitting water balloons at 300 yards. Any more than that I run out of scope.

I would rather shoot 22 hulls at 50 yards than balloons at 300. Just don't do much long distance.

I don't either other than that one week out of the year. The rest of the time I'm at my local range either printing groups at 50 yards or busting up left over shards of clay birds on a slate bank at 100 yards. Another fun game my step father and I do is throw a golf ball out like 35 yards and then play golf with it. All shots must be off hand and fewest shots to the slate bank at 100 yards wins the hole. 18 holes.

Oh my,... I wish they still made this gun.

The 452 & 453 were both shooters for sure.
