Not flaming other's choices but to my eye the 2.5x8 is over rated. My son has one and he likes the Nikon Monarch UCC 3x9 more.

Okay, man, I have one on a Kimber Montana .325 WSM, another that will probably end up on my Whelen, and a third that was going to go on my .358 Hawkeye, but got bumped by a Conquest 2.5-8x.

.243 FX3 6x42
.25-06 3-9x40 Vari-X
7-08 Conquest 3-9x
7 WSM Conquest 3-9x
.308 Redfield 2-7x

22 Hornet - Leupold 2.5-8x36
223 - Leupold 3.5-10x40
243 - Leupold 4x32
6.5X55 - Leupold 2.5-8x36
280AI - naked - getting a Leupold 3.5-10x40
308 - Leupold 2.5-8x36
338LM - Nightforce 5.5-22x50
9.3x62 - Leupold 2.5-8x36

I was running a few more Zeiss last year but have sold most of them off. No complaints on the glass just trying to drop a few ounces from all my gear. The VX3 2.5-10x40 and the 2.5-8x36 are my current favorite scopes for the weight/money. Overrated to some but they work for me and I am liking the consistency when switching from rifle to rifle. I have a few other rifles at the smith being built and they will probably get fixed power Leupolds and a NF 2.5-10x42.

7mm Rem Mag = Zeis Conquest 3-9x40mm (Also wore a Bushenll Elite 3-9x40, and the 4x32mm that is now on a 22LR))

.243win = 4-12x40mm Vortex Diamondback

CZ 452 22LR = 4x32mm Japanese brand scope VERY bright, but thick plex, would be better on a woods rifle. (had the 4-12 Vortex before moving to the 22LR)

I had a Burris FFII 3-9x40mm on a CZ 452 Lux before.

I have nothing but Kahles AH/CL/C any longer. (4) 2-7x36, (2) 4x36, and a 3-9x42. Also recently set up a Remington 600 with an Aimpoint Micro H1. Very happy with everything I have.

lol.... It is a likeable little rifle. I heard someone describe it as "handy as a shirt pocket". With a 6x42 it's just right.
