ButchL, That is a joke, right? You are putting comments on the section for "Competitive Shooting" and you never heard of Camp Perry? I can guess you never heard of the NRA either. You live in TX, have you heard of a guy...David Tubb? Anyway....good shooting.

Rutstopper, I go to Perry to shoot "bullseye" pistol and High Power service rifle. Everyone is upset because I scored that first target as an 80-0x. That is what it was...if you are only shooing for a group and not a score...why use a regular High Power target....just paint a dot on paper, aim for that.

You are putting comments on the section for "Competitive Shooting" and you never heard of Camp Perry? Yet you post on a thread about BR shooting that you know nothing about. BTW, evidently you don't know squat about Butch either..... if you are only shooing for a group and not a score...why use a regular High Power target....just paint a dot on paper, aim for that. In IBS competition, you shoot for group and score. The highest of each, in each relay, go to a shoot off amongst the other relay winners of group and score. You can only win your relay in one or the other, not both, and group takes precedence over score when one guy has both on a relay. You stick to Highpower, we'll keep to shooting little groups somewhere on the target....

It's a huge community.

You are correct Eddie. 30mmplumber, are you speaking of the Canadian flash? Have you had an opportunity to break bread with John Holliger or Eric Uptagrafft? If you haven't heard of them, just do a wiki search.

A sidenote
John Holliger-owner White Oak Armament JOHN HOLLIGER
John receiving the Pershing Trophy in 2000
John receiving the Pershing Trophy Award in 2000
I have been a competitive shooter since 1980, holding NRA classifications in HP Rifle, Conventional Pistol, SB Rifle, SB Rifle Prone, and Silhouette Pistol. I have been doing gunsmithing of one kind or another since about the same time.
In 2000, I started White Oak Precision. One of the seemingly never ending problems for me was obtaining parts that were of the quality that I wanted to use in my uppers. Parts were bought from several sources, handguards here, bolts there, receivers over there. In some cases I had parts made to my specifications because I was not satisfied with what was available. I observed the need for a reliable source that custom gunsmiths and discriminating shooters could go to and be assured of getting only the very best quality parts available.
White Oak Armament is the result of that need. Since then, White Oak Armament has built a reputation for offering top-quality workmanship and exceptional service. As we enter our second decade of business I continue to be in the shop every day building uppers, talking with customers and suppliers, and ensuring that every White Oak product exceeds expectations.

Another shooter that I have worked with. Olympic shooter, Jon Hammonds. Jon is from Aberdeen, Scotland. I met John through West Virginia University, where my Grandson plays college football. John is the coach of the WVU shooting team. They won their 16th NCAA rifle championship earlier this year, 2014. Jon is a 3P and prone small bore shooter. He has won numerous Olympic medals and World Cup medals. I put Jon together with Dan Killough(Killough Shooting Sports)last year. Dan took the WVU shooting teams rifles and matched the right lots of Eley ammo to each rifle. Dan has one of only 3 Eley Test Centers in the World. They are outside San Angelo, Tx.
30mmplumber, I do know a few of them, but most love shooting and aren't as good as mentioned above. They are just good funloving people. I am a BR shooter, but really respect all disciplines.

You better go north next year. Actually most shooting sports are not spectator sports. If I can't find their scores, Jon will email them too me. They are the best college shooting team in the nation. If I'm not mistaken, all of the shooters will be back next year. Jon is in Europe shooting competition and recruiting shooters. Jon is very popular with shooters Worldwide as he is just a great young man.

I'll try to remember to post it.

He has won numerous Olympic medals and World Cup medals. I'm sure that Jon Hammond is a good shooter and a great coach (it's nice to see WVU with a shooting program again), but an Olympic and World Cup medalist he is not. http://www.teamgb.com/athletes/jon-hammondI'm pulling for him to bring the program back to the prominence it had achieved under Beasley.

Marsha Beasley was a great coach. Jon has brought back WVU in collegiate shooting. It is hard to bring back a program that was without a rifle program 3-4yrs. I believe all of his shooters from last years championship team are coming back.

It is hard to bring back a program that was without a rifle program 3-4yrs. The WVU administration dropped their powerhouse NCAA champion Rifle team in 2003 to put more emphasis on their "other" sports programs. The outcry from the public was swift and harsh, and ended with the legislature adding a special line item in the WVU budget specifically for the rifle team. WVU bowed to the pressure and reinstated the rifle team in 2004. Marsha Beasley retired as coach in 2006, and Jon Hammond took over the team for the 2006/2007 season. I don't know to what extent WVU had a rifle team from 2004 to 2006...I was out of the loop by then...but I do know that they weren't winning. Jon Hammond now has 3 NCAA Championships under his belt.
