I've done a 'fire search sans results.

I'm considering loading 150 grain Partitions for my .270 Win using R-22. Does anyone have experience with this combo?

Real Guns has 59 grains of R-22 with 150 grain Partitions. This Website has always had what I've considered good info. Can anyone expound on this load?

Sounds pretty warm, I'd definitely work up to that one.

Alliant's reloading guide lists 54 grains of Re-22 and a 150 grain Speer spitzer at 2769. They state to reduce by 10% for a starting load.

59 seems pretty far above 54.

For comparison I shoot 60 Gr RL22 with a 130 as my standard load.

Hi Mike,

Thanks.

Real Guns has 62 grains of R-22 with 130 grain bullets. What grabbed my attention was the phenomenal accuracy with that load.

BTW, my standard 130 grain bullet load is 60 grains of H-4831. It's always worked well.

I've been shooting 150g Partitions with great success out of my BDL in 270 forever. My goto load, now that I've given it to my son is 57g of H4831, Rem brass, Federal 215 primers for 2910 fps out of a 22" barrel. I used to load quitea bit hotter and got 3030 fps out of the same gun. Both loads shoot well under MOA.

I use 56 grains of RL-22 and the 160-grain Nosler Partition.

That is one grain under the maximum listed in the most recent Nosler manual IIRC, and very accurate in every .270 in which I've tried it.

I have used 56 of RL22 with the 160's as well. You should be able to use a little more with 150 Partitions. The 160 does 2800 in my 22.75". With 150's I have had best luck with IMR7828ssc.

I have had good luck with R22 in my R77/270 using 150 BTs, NPs and SBs. Don't overlook R17 either.
No matter what you read or are told, work your way up to max for your gun.

Sneak up on 59g with the 150g bullet. I shot 58g with the 130g for many years, I was getting pressure signs at 60g.

Lot# of R#22 can vary, and so can guns. So what worked for me or someone else should be taken with caution.

56.5 gr and a 150 partition worked great when I had a .270,
2950+- in my Abolt.

For years I've used 59 grains of H4831sc behind a 130 gr Nosler BT or Sierra GK. That didn't used to be above max in most reloading books, but is now in a few books.

I've used RL-22 almost exclusively in the 270 with both 130,140 &150 gr. bullets since Norma MRP became hard to get & expensive.

It's always given top shelf accuracy & velocity.

Still have 3 270's.............I'm not going to post my loads but will just say, start low & work up &, depending on your gun, don't be surprised if you are able to safely end up at over the charge listed as max in some sources.

Anytime a R22 load is significantly different from H4831 data the load is suspect. R22 usually loads the same or within no more than 1-1.5 gr. difference either way in medium sized cases.

60 grains R22 is good for 130s but could be four to six grains over book max with 150s.

I am going to try R-22. From what I've read, it seems to give better accuracy.

I've always used 58 grains of H-4831 with 150 grain bullets w/o problems or signs of pressure.

I always work up loads. I will give up velocity for accuracy.

In some rifles, yes. It worked well in one Krieger barrel I had ,which preferred it over H4831.Generally though RL22 provides good velocity and accuracy in the 270;enough so that it's one of the top two powders I reach for in the 270 Winchester.

The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.
