I agree . . . a redux of one of the greatest World Cup finals ever . . . 1974 featuring Johan Cruyff and Johan Neeskens for Holland and Franz Beckenbauer, Paul Breitner and Gerd M�ller for West Germany. I was a young Marine stationed in Spain and watched virtually every game while drinking cold beer in the Spanish bars. Cruyff and Neeskens played for Barcelona at the time.





At approximately the 6:40 mark of the video above, the linesman calls M�ller offsides, but the video replay below shows he was clearly onside and should have been credited with his second goal of the match and a 3-1 Germany win. Linemen have ruined many a game with their Barney Fife desires to be important and interject themselves into the game.

At the WC level, one would think and hope the officiating would be better. That was a High School level call.
