I used a 100gr ttsx last year loaded to 2900 fps to put down a crippled buck last year at a shade under 300 yards. Deer ran over 100 yards, shot was middle of cage and took out both lungs. Plan is to shoot accubonds or partitions this fall in the bob or bump up the heat.

The old 257 Roberts never caught on. It's kind of small for deer and big ricochet wise for chucks.

However there are some fans of the 257. If that M70 is one of the good old ones it might be 'worth' some collector wise.

The standard grades were heavy rifles.

What is that M70 like? Pre-64?, What barrel?

It will not be easy to find factory ammo however it should shoot ok.
