Anyone tried one out yet?

Yeah, I know blued only which kinda sucks, but it does have the 1-8 twist.

Thinking of getting one for a backup or loner rifle.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Did any even get released? Seems like they would have started trickling out just about the time the XMP recall hit...

Bud's has em in stock for around $550. bear in mind that the 700 is a much more upgradeable platform than the RAR ...

I wondered the same and talked with a dealer yesterday. He said his supplier had 10, 260's in stock at the moment. He also said the trigger issue should be taken care of by now since they did not get sent to dealers yet.

Web page sez it's spun 1/8, so it should be a good setup with a lot of options to customize....

Lots of options to customize 700s, that begs a whole other question....

The only reason for the 1/8 twist is to shoot the 140 VLD of which they are to long to fit in the sa Rem magazine. Rem should have chambered it in the 6.5 Ceed.

My 1/8 twist shoots both the 123s and 130s about .050 in BC higher than a buddies 1/9 6.5x47.... same velocity, same bullets... but mine go through the air better. Just an observation....

SU35 - +1 on CM. Is your AI an OEM or custom tube? What brass/powder? Suspect Lapua/H4350.

Not talking about accuracy... I'm talking about stability and it's effect on observed BCs.

Saying BC is .5 at 200 yds? I got the spin vs BC correlation, but thought the .5/200 was group size.

I can see the confusion...

I'm saying 1-8" shoots the same 123 grain bullets (Amax and Scenar) bullet .050 points HIGHER BC on average. The 1-8 twist seems to get a little more BC (.530-.560) than the 1-9" twist (.470-.520). The velocities are equal at the muzzle, as was general group size... and all atmospheric conditions were the same.

Not scientific, but I'm convinced there's stable, and there's STABLE... and I think it matters. The 1-8" helps eek every last bit of good outta the midsize 6.5s.

I'm thinking your scope height is the factor, not faster twist.

Bryan Litz agrees with you:

Talley lows on both.... it's the twist having an effect on BC. There's no other explanation...

John.... I knew Litz agrees... I wasn't gonna bring that up though..... just reporting what I've seen personally. I also remember an old article in RifleShooter Mag, that showed an increase in BC with 10-15 different projectiles as twist rate went from standard 1-12" to 1-9" in a .22-250. In fact, the 50 grain bullets improved with added twist.... even though they're surely "stable" in a 1-12".

A 1-9" twist will spin a bullet 235,000 RPM at 2950fps.... the 1-8" will spin same bullet at 265,500 RPM.... That extra 30,000+ RPM ain't hurting the stability.

I've noticed the same thing shooting the .243 105 HPBTs out of the 1-10" vs. the 1-9".... a 1-10" "stabilizes" them.... but a 1-9" shoots them better, and with a noticeably higher BC (about +.025-.035).

Just got a call from my brother... a load that shot the 105s outta two .243s in the sub-MOA range out to 600 here in CO.... just went tits-up the first time out in CA.... Keyholes galore...

Stable ain't always stable....
