I like to think so. I bought it CHEAP, a Wal-Mart clearance in Pensacola back in 08. I paid 250 box for it, so I bought three, this one, a 257 (similarly rigged) and I gave the 270 to my FIL. He loves his. I put a Timney on it as well and a Leupold VX3 2.5X8X36.

That is a great rifle. I would like to say that "great minds think alike" but in our case I think that "fools seldom differ" would be more appropriate. I bought my son a Vanguard 30-06 on close out from Cabelas for $350 in 2011. The new Series II's were just coming out. I wears an old Burris 3-9x38 Fullfield that I bought new in the early 1990's for $125 on a closeout. The bases are Weaver steel and the rings are Burris Zee. He wanted a 7mm Rem Mag, but all they had was a 30-06 or a 270 Win, and I couldn't take a chance of him "catching the gay". That and I also shoot a 30-06, so there is no problem with ammo. I am looking at getting him a wood stock from Weatherby or a Bell & Carlson Medalist in the Weatherby style. If we upgrade the scope it will be to a Fullfield II 3-9x40 w/ ballistic plex or a Meopta 3-9x40 with the ballistic reticle. I told him that with the set up he has, he can hunt any non dangerous game that he can afford too. LOL. He is only 19 and still at home. Off to college this fall.

Fine rifle right there. One can do almost everything in NA with it.

The ignore function's a thing of beauty, specifically when ignoring,drunken, insecure, butterball midgets with a life worthy of a Jerry Springer series.

Thanks all for the kind words, the rifle was put together with gifts of many friends and most important of all, my son really likes it. Last year at our place in the PA mountains he was shooting groundhogs as far as 350 yards, and that was without the Timney or the new stock.
