To one degree you are correct. Here in Texas we do have a menagerie of critters from which to choose. And as you point out, I am afforded the luxury of getting to hunt and shoot enough, that whether I shoot with a rifle, pistol, bow or camera and what I do shoot is a matter of personal choice. Thanks for noticing that.
Good eye. I've heard you could follow sign. LOL

I'm always correct. Mainly because I'm afforded the luxury of not being forced to guess,which is probably a VERY "unfair" advantage.

Find me "mistaken"...it'll be VERY funny.

I'm not compelled to talk out my ass,like a fence-hopping Texan doing her "best".

Well, since you asked,

JMHO,

[Linked Image]

You do appear to be somewhat "light in the loafers" in that photo. Perhaps its the tongue in the ear.

I don't know if I'd have published that one.

Just sayin'

Best,

GWB

OT,

Thank you sir,

but I can't take all the credit.

If it weren't for the stentorian (thank you Zane Grey) pronouncements and active participation of Mr. BS, I'd probably not post half of what I do.

Here's to ya' B.

[Linked Image]

not exactly a 7-08, but a LA 280 Rem.

and with the following I'll bid you a good eve', as I will catch you later.

The Men who Don't Fit In
By R.W. Service

Theres a race of men that dont fit in,
A race that cant stay still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin,
And they roam the world at will.
They range the field and they rove the flood,
And they climb the mountains crest;
Theirs is the curse of the gypsy blood,
And they dont know how to rest.

If they just went straight they might go far;
They are strong and brave and true;
But theyre always tired of the things that are,
And they want the strange and new.
They say: Could I find my proper groove,
What a deep mark I would make!
So they chop and change, and each fresh move
Is only a fresh mistake.

And each forgets, as he strips and runs
With a brilliant, fitful pace,
Its the steady, quiet, plodding ones
Who win in the lifelong race.
And each forgets that his youth has fled,
Forgets that his prime is past,
Till he stands one day, with a hope thats dead,
In the glare of the truth at last.

He has failed, he has failed; he has missed his chance;
He has just done things by half.
Lifes been a jolly good joke on him,
And now is the time to laugh.
Ha, ha! He is one of the Legion Lost;
He was never meant to win;
Hes a rolling stone, and its bred in the bone;
Hes a man who wont fit in.

JAFO,

GWB

To the OP, with 2000 MR powder and a 25.5" barrel, you should easily get 2950 fps using 140 gr bullets. Work up to that carefully, but 2000MR or Big Game are probably going to give you best velocity in that bullet weight with that cartridge.

FWIW,

One of the reasons I shoot the 7-08 with 140 gr. bullets is that I do not want 3,000 fps.
For the type of shooting I do, MVs of 2,800 fps or so do less meat damage than those of 3000 fps or over.
If I wanted MV's approaching, or exceeding 3K fps I"d shoot my 7 mag or 7 STW.
Of course, your mileage may vary.

Best,

GWB
