I can get a B&C medalist for $260, a plain mcmillan hunters edge is $640. I'm okay with spending the money if it's truly that much better. Otherwise I can use the difference towards my bino fund.
Is the Mc really that much better? I have a regular B&C stock on my pre64 and it works - I did have do some fitting. I've never handled a rifle with a Mcmillan on it.
I need to put a syn stock on my M70 - its a new feather weight in 7x57 - not sure why but I need to. Seems like all the cool kids are doing it (and I'm elk hunting in November).
Thoughts?

As per always...McMillan or bust. Yes,literally.
Though on a Mouser based Winny, alotta things get moot and fast.............

Yes.
B&C is a fine stock. But the McMillan is definitely nicer. Durability, feel, weight, everything about the McM is better.
Will a rifle with a McM shoot better than a rifle with a B&C stock? Probably not. But there's more to it than that, IMO.

Ain't no way you are getting a new mcMillan stock by November--their backlog is longer than that. You could save some $$ by going with regular fill over an EDGE.

Seriously?
BC sucks ass up one side and down the other. You can eventually get them right, but hope you like a dremel and sand paper. I just put one on a M70 that was a chore. Inlet was all kinds of off. I like the ergos, but damn.
I won't even mention the SA I'm [bleep] with now.

Thoughts? You can't elk hunt with a wood stock?? If not, keep an eye out for a used Mcmillan in the classifieds here.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

A B&C stock is a downgrade from a factory tupperware stock. Ain't no way you are getting a new McMillan stock by November--their backlog is longer than that.

I bought one of the Edge stocks from Stocky's. Exactly what I wanted and had it in a week. The Edge is really the only way to go. They already have pillars and are at least 1/2 lb lighter. About 20 oz lighter than B&C. Well worth the extra expense
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

I'd hunt the wood and spend the money elsewhere.
I bought a McMillan Sako Hunter for my T3.
I am over it. Won't buy another one.

Tough to swoon a Tikka.
I'd trip the Winny, apply the stock funds, reap a Montucky and cut to alotta chases,in one fell swoop...............
