$100 off until October 19 according to the mailer I got. Looks like a pretty good deal so I thought I would pass it along. Original price was $399.00

I'd pay the extra $29 and be happy. Not saying that's not a good deal from Bass Pro,just prefer the Conquest

I agree, and wonder how the Terra compares to the Conquest. Zeiss makes the Terra optics in China.
The original Conquest is made in Germany.

I own an original Conquest scope and the Terra 8x42 binocular.
And I do know where they are made.

I do not see the Terra scope being made anywhere but China.

Tell us more, I only trust a little ways, but you must verify.

Zeiss Conquest Rifle Scopes - Designed specifically for the American sportsman this legendary rifle scope line from Carl Zeiss has firmly established itself as a favorite in its price range. It features exceptional quality lead free optical lenses that are fully treated with the legendary Zeiss MC anti reflective lens coating treatment. This coating creates super bright images that will maximize the low light performance potential of each and every Conquest rifle scope model. A large ocular lens system assures long eye relief without sacrificing field-of-view, a common problem with many long eye relief rifle scope.
All but one of the Conquest scopes are built with a one inch exterior tube and are fitted with non-magnifying reticles. The one exception is the 3-12x56 scope which is a 30mm tube model that's fitted with a magnifying reticle.
Zeiss Conquest Rifle Scopes are assembled in the United States and are backed by a Transferable Lifetime Warranty when purchased through a USA Authorized Zeiss Sport Optics Dealer

Riflescopes will be assembled in Japan. Terra Binos will be China. Binos include SHOTT ED glass. [/quote]

You are incorrect concerning the Conquest line of riflescopes.

I own a Conquest riflescope that I bought within the first month of release. It says on the ocular bell that it is "Assembled in USA" and that corroborates my recollection. I own later models that also say "Assembled in USA." Made and Assembled do not mean the same thing, but the Conquest line of riflescopes most certainly were not made in Germany. I'd love a pic of your Conquest riflescope that says "Made in Germany" if you have such a scope.

Conquest will give greater eye relief. Optical quality will probably be about the same. I prefer the longer eye relief myself.

The Terra 3-9x has the same eye relief as the Conquest at lower magnifications, but less at higher powers. Thats the only measureable difference I could find when testing a Terra.
Most parts for the original Conquests (including most lenses) were made in the Czech Republic, though a few parts/lenses were made in Germany. The assembling in America is done to get around the import duty on complete optics.

But there is a $50 rebate on now for the Terra also ... now that difference is up to nearly $80

The sale extends to BPS's website too.

I do not believe any of the "Conquest" scopes, new or otherwise, have been or are now being "Made in Germany." Here's the data from the Zeiss website pertaining to the Conquest line of scopes:

"One piece, hard anodized tubes protect precision mechanics for long term ruggedness even under heavy recoil and hard use. Designed in Germany. Assembled in the USA."

I think you correct that the old Conquest were assembled in the USA but the New HD5 Conquest say they are assembled in Germany.I copied the below line from the link you provided but found it under the HD5.

Designed and assembled in Germany
Built with the highest quality materials and craftsmanship. Proteced by the US Lifetime Warranty and 5 Year No-Fault Policy.

Agreed, but a HD5 Conquest is not a Conquest; it's a different line altogether.
