BTW what I've have given to be 100 yards closer a month ago, and had my brackenbury in hand... But I think the next goal is let Carolyn carry the 338-06 just in case... and I'm going to smoke one with a smokepole. Then go to bow. LOL. Like I know a dang thing about what I'm doing up there....
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

I used to have a vhs tape of two friends of mine, Joe Caswell and Jerry Weeks bow hunting moose off of the Yukon. It shows Joe whacking a huge bull with a stick bow. The bull stands broadside at about 15 yards and Joe puts an arrow into the boiler room. The bull runs in a semi circle around them, stopping 15 yards away, still broadside and Joe puts a second arrow into him. He dropped right there. Total elapsed time, maybe 15 seconds. Not a word was said for a couple of minutes. Great video and example of how it's done. Ed

I'm trying to get loose tomorrow, and get in at least a few hours hunting. And check trail cams, and, and... Rifle season is a month away, here...

I've got one good rifle stand, and one good bow stand on this lease. Going to play it by ear. So far I seem to be able to reliably keep arrows in a 6 inch circle at 20 yards, and that works with the bow stand. If I enjoy hunting with the old PSE then I'll ante up for a good Mathews next year.

I will, in SE Montana this weekend. Montana is indeed 'big sky' country, couldnt close the distance on a monster WT non typical, appeared to have about 16 points in that clustered up nasty rack of his, I'll be back again.

Thankfully it was you who saw that buck, and not some jack A#$ who would start flinging arrows at it from 150 yards away..then blame something on their equipment for not making a drt kill and only wounding the animal....if they managed to hit some part of it from that distance. I hear some of the dumbest stories from people who go out west to hunt and then decide to brag about shooting at animals that are at crazy ranges. That's the neat part about being out there... you got to see an awesome non typical buck that you can go back and look for again
.... and with your 31" draw, and giant harpoon arrows, if he is standing on the other side of a cinder-block wall he is still in trouble!

It was a tough call AB, he was 41 yards at 90 degrees, perfect, couldn't clearly see his vitals, knew where they were but couldn't risk it. Bud that let me hunt his place has seen that buck and said he's 155/160, a real brute of a buck for me, and easily the biggest I've ever shot, on the bright side, he'll be bigger next year.
