Utah police chief charged with stalking three women

A tiny Utah town's newly-formed police department has a big-time problem: Its police chief was charged Tuesday with stalking three women.
Thomas Wade Butterfield, 44, appeared in 8th District Court, where he faces five misdemeanor charges from stalking and criminal trespass to unlawful detention, KSL reported.
Butterfield became chief when Myton, a town of less than 600 residents, formed the Myton Police Department on July 1. Butterfield, the town's lone full-time cop, is accused of harassing the women between June and September.
"We scraped together every cent we could to get a department together," Myton Mayor Kathleen Cooper told The Salt Lake Tribune, calling the allegations against Butterfield "mind-numbing."
Cooper said the case is under review by the town's attorney.

The pathetic thing is; if they have a legitimate cop slam, even the cops here would give them some cred.
Problem is, those agendized lightweights, losers of the first order, got smacked upside their heads too many times in their mediocre lives.
They can't shake it and I love shaking their low self esteem while they're at it.
If they grew up, they'd be treated other than prison laundry room date night specials.

Pembroke police officer charged with 2 sex crimes
PEMBROKE � A Pembroke police detective has been suspended without pay for the second time on allegations of sexual abuse.
After first learning of the allegations in March, Pembroke officials suspended Oxendine for three days while an internal investigation was pursued, according to Town Attorney Gary Locklear. Oxendine returned to work on March 7.
Locklear said the latest suspension will stand until the charges are resolved.
�If he were to be acquitted or charges were dismissed � there is a provision that he can appeal the matter in terms of reinstatement or possible back-pay,� Locklear said.
Pembroke Police Chief Grant Florita said in March that Oxendine had worked for the department for about three years and has about 18 years of law enforcement experience. Florita could not be reached for comment on Tuesday.

TBI investigating Chattanooga officer who allegedly asked rape victim for nude photos
District Attorney General Neal Pinkston asked the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to open a criminal investigation into Chattanooga police Officer Karl Fields Monday, according to a release from the police department.
Fields has been accused of sending explicit texts to the woman in a rape case he was investigating, including asking her to send nude photos, and filing a harassment charge against the father of a murder victim whose case he was in charge of.
Fields has been placed on administrative leave, which means he no longer has a badge or gun, but is working in an administrative role and still being paid by the department.

(WMC) - A former Memphis police officer was indicted on aggravated rape charges. A back-logged rape kit finally got tested and helped lead to the indictment which stems from an attack that happened 14 years ago.
Bridges Randle, 40, is accused of raping a woman in her apartment on June 24, 2000. He changed his name, but Memphis investigators still tracked him down to Atlanta, Georgia where he worked for The Boys & Girls Club.
"We've been working very hard to get through this backlog and to make sure all of these kits get tested and get the results we have today," District Attorney Amy Weirich said.
Randle remains locked up at the Shelby County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
He is accused of raping a 23-year-old woman at gunpoint in 2000. Investigators say it happened at a Fox Meadows area apartment.
Police had been there earlier in the day on June 24, 2000 responding to a domestic violence call. The alleged victim told investigators that a man acting like a police officer later returned to ask more questions.
The woman says that man pulled a gun on her, forced her into a bedroom, and raped her.
DNA evidence from an previously untested rape kit identified the suspect as Randle. At the time, he was an officer with Memphis police.
Randle left MPD in 2001 and was most recently an administrator with The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, where he went by another name.
"It's a good day for the victim and the community," Amy Weirich said.
Randle will be arraigned in criminal court on Friday.
The Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta released the following statement:
Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta has learned that a staff member has been accused of rape and is being held on bond in the Shelby County Jail in Tennessee. The staff member was stationed at our central office downtown and was not an employee of a specific Club location. To our knowledge, the alleged activity took place more than 10 years ago in Tennessee and does not in any way involve anyone in Georgia or any minors.
We are deeply concerned and alarmed by this allegation, and have taken immediate action. The employee has been terminated and we have prohibited this individual's access to our organization and any of our operations.
The safety and protection of the children we serve is the number one priority of the Boys & Girls Clubs. Our organization is committed to the highest standards of ethical behavior and integrity, and does not tolerate inappropriate or illegal activity on the part of any Club staff, volunteer or youth member. As part our commitment to safety, we conduct criminal background checks on all staff. Each background check must verify the person's identity and search all 50-state criminal databases and sex offender registries.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta will continue its full cooperation with the authorities on this matter.

Ex-Texas officer gets 40 years for child sex abuseA former Port of Galveston police officer has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl. The Galveston Daily News reports 38-year-old Jason Ener received the sentence on Tuesday. He pleaded guilty to felony aggravated sexual assault of a child. Police arrested Ener in February after an online sex sting in Montgomery County. He admitted to police that he had sex with the child up to five times over a period of several years.Ener served as a patrol officer with the port police agency for about seven years. He was fired the day of his arrest.

A Honolulu Police officer was arrested Wednesday morning on suspicion of third-degree sex assault.
HPD isn�t releasing any details on what led to the arrest, but they do say the officer has been with the department for six years, and is assigned to the Wahiawa district.
The officer in question has been released from custody pending investigation, but his police powers have been removed.
