We agree on that. Apologies if I offended. Wasn't meant too just a statement.
None taken.
I wasn't normally at that church. Their assistant pastor had gotten permission to use the gym to start a new 'church/group' for those who would never set foot in a typical church...addicts, recovering types, special needs, rough and tumble crowd, et al. They could smoke, cuss, whatever and still be welcomed without judgment. It was a place where all could come together and figure out how to live this life better...like Jesus, without all the theological and doctrinal baggage that comes with most churches.
My best friend played in their band and invited me to visit. I did and after a bit they asked me to sub a couple of times in their band. It became full time and eventually I even became the band leader. We played considerably 'looser' music than a typical church. Also, quite a bit of CCM including the song Fireball posted above. My best friend and I were the guitarists and that band was literally like family. We spent hours together practicing, eating out and at each other's homes and just chillin'. The best 'church' years of my life were those four years...
It all ended when the 'official' church pressured the pastor to get the people at the meeting to become members of the 'regular' church. They saw our group as just a means to lure these people in so they could get them to go to a 'real' church. After it all went to schit, I left (as did all the core members) and never looked back.
I'll not set foot in a church again...
And some might now understand why I rail on 'Christians' so hard here...
Nothing gets my goat like bad theology and a schitty representation of God...
It ain't what you don't know that makes you an idiot...it's what you know for certain, that just ain't so...
Most people don't want to believe the truth~they want the truth to be what they believe.
Siegfried's Funeral Music! Should be a real treat!
Or Alpensinfonie! Doesn't matter
