I did some load development with 130 Vld's and H4350 today. Accuracy was ok but velocity seems lower than what I've seen from others.
The load: New hornady brass, Winchester lr primer, 130 vld set Kissing the lands, and H4350 powder. The results are the average of two three shot groups.
41.5gr .71" @ 2651
42.0gr .37" @ 2697
42.5gr .55" @ 2674
43.0gr .45" @ 2710
43.5gr .71" @ 2780

Interestingly even the 43.5gr load showed no signs of pressure even though it's higher than max in most manuals. The highest I've seen for 130's was nosler. They have 43gr @ 2865 in a 24" barrel.

I also shot the 140 amax and it went
41.5gr .74" @ 2623

My rifle has a 26" criterion 1/8 twist barrel. Are these velocities similar to what others have seen? Do I have a slow batch of H4350?

My 260 load is 43.5 H4350 with the 130 VLD. I was right at 2,780 also. That was in the first 100 rounds though. Might have sped up some since then. 24" Bartlein barrel.

I get 2825fps avg with 130 berger VLDs and 43.8grs of H4350. This is thru a 21"(measured from front of recoil lug to crown) 1-8 twist Benchmark RemVarmint contour barrel screwed to a Rem700 action.

I've seen posts of 2900's out of a 26" barrel with 43.5grs of h4350. I was just curious what others are seeing. It's also possible that my chronograph is off. I've never verified its accuracy.

With a 24" Brux, my rifle averages about 2875fps with 43.0gr of H4350 and 43.5gr loads run about 2925fps but accuracy is not as good.

I'll have to try again with a new battery. I've found that my chronograph will give some odd readings when the battery is failing.

I would think with the 130 VLD that 43.5 isn't the top end. Go up in .3gr increments till you get an ejector mark or some sticky bolt lift.

I'm getting 2850 or so at 42.5 grains with the 139 Scenar.

If you have a slow-burning lot of 4350 you may easily get close to 44+ grains.

I think you're right...I did go up to 44.0gr in my rifle and couldn't detect any ejector swipe or heavy bolt lift. Velocity was in the 2950-2970fps range. That load was included in one of my first rounds of load development in which I had the bullets seated .010" into the lands. It shot better at 43.0gr so that's where I started playing with smaller powder charge increments and seating depths.

My 43.0gr load likes a .020" jump and shoots really well. Just for fun I may have to revisit that 44.0gr range again and play with the seating depth a little. I'd be curious to see how the primer pockets would hold up.
