[s][/s]My KAHR shoots very well out to 25 yds so at confrontation distance it's no contest on accuracy however the only ammo I will count on is the buffalo bore hard cast.

Beretta 84 is a super nice gun too!

People carry .380's because they are small and easy to carry. Obviously a sub compact .380 is harder to shoot than a larger 9mm etc. and has less power. But if all you are likely to carry regularly is a sub compact pistol, then a .380 might be the way to go. Lots of people have used them successfully for self defense.

I personally prefer at least a 9mm but a carry handgun is a personal choice. A .380 with good loads can work for self defense as long as the person who carries it trains with it.

yeah, I bet if I bury a 3" knife in your chest, it will reach your heart and If I do so with a 2" blade, it will reach your lung. You dont have to go clean thru an organ to ruin that organ's ability to function and to bleed out the man so hit. 12" of penetration is a crock. I'll take 6" in a heartbeat, if I can get double the damage and shock (and I can).

I use a little Taurus 738 in .380, but all I've killed with it has been 4 rattlesnakes this year. It's very accurate, and shoots right to point of aim with those little sights on it. The reason I picked it from the 4 I chose from is the slide sits high enough (or is it that the cut for the web of the hand is low enough?) that It doesn't "bite" me and lay long cut tracks in the web of my hand when I shoot it. That's hard not to notice even when used in self defense! And the trigger, even as a DAO, was the most controllable one of the lot I chose from.I'm happy with it, but I only wanted it so I'd have something, at least, 24/7 wherever I go. It's not something you carry if you expect trouble. If you EXPECT trouble, I try to go the other way, or carry at least a 12 ga.

.380's are kind'a nice, really. When I got mine, it was a move up from a little Kel Tec .32, and the Kel Tec was a move up from a little Freedom Arms mini revolver in .22 LR. I always figured that last was only good if you can stick it in a guy's stomach, and pull the trigger so the whole muzzle blast and trash goes into the wound. I think it'd get most anyone's attention for at lest long enough to extract myself from the dilema. Luckily, I never had to prove that. Hope my luck lasts, but if it doesn't, it's very reassuring to be able to make head shots quickly with whatever it is you carry on a K-5 silhouette target. I carry Horn. FTS's, but will be casting a flat pointed 100 gr. LRNFP as soon as I can get a good load worked up for it. Main thing is to have SOMETHING, and a lot of fight in your heart.

Don't be too hard on him. He was injured in a loading dock accident.
