Been handloading for quite a long time and must say Ramshot Hunter and 180 grain bullets in the good old 06 run mid 2800 fps, in a 22' barrel, with very little case stretch and no signs of pressure. Unreal consistent speed I've never seen before as well. 70 degrees in north jersey, not so accurate yet as gun is a work in progress but a 180 at 2850 fps is all I'll ever need. Winchester cases and CCI 250 were used. Thanx for the tip. This load literally kicked less than factory Win 150s. More of a push with Hunter, alot like MRP powder. It does get your attention tho with this M70 Featherweight.

Yep, it works great in my rifle too. I use 58.5 grains of Hunter with 180 grain bullet Fed 215 primers. 58 grains was good, but 58.5 made it great. Tighter groups with consistent speed. 2850fps
Great load.
Thanks MD

How can a 180 at 2850fps kick less than a factory 150?

The Winchester factory 150s have a real snap to them where as the Hunter load has a push. I was surprised myself, doesn't make sense and the math doesn't work but it feels like it kicks less. My opinion and a 61 year old shoulder.

Sounds like it'll work. His 168 gr BT and 59.0 gr of H4350 is still my favorite though.

Here is a pic of a target I shot. Getting it zeroed, two shoots then move to two inches high.

I'll go up 1/2 grain and try it, then do the usual to get it to shoot if I need to. Featherweights can be tuff.

Hard for anybody to be down on this cartridge, honestly. Something like a 175gr Barnes LRX at 2,850fps would be a potent load for most anything I'm likely to ever come across. I've kind of been hankering for another 30-06 and may have to start looking for parts.
Now with even more aplomb

My 06 has a Lilja 1-11 twist. So I'm prolly not going more than 168..
I might try them someday.

Glad to hear people are having luck with the combo, but I'll also note that Ramshot's data goes well over 58 grains with some 180's, up to 61.0 with the Speer Grand Slam.

I've had 1-12" '06's before...............you won't have any trouble with a 180 & maybe not even with a 200. MM

I've used three of Mule Deer's loads and have been very impressed. 59 grs. of H4831 under a 200 gr. Nosler Partition clocks 2680 fps. and shoots surprisingly flat. Every bit as good as factory 180 gr. ammo. 58-59 grs. of H4350 shoots very well, under MOA, for three with the 168 gr. TSX. The big surprise was 58 grs. of Ramshot Big Game with the 155 Lapua Scenar bullet. Zeroed at 2.3 inches high at 200 yds., it's down only 3.6 inches at 300 yds. Put 7 into .7 inches at 100 yds for me once. Always does .7-.8 inches at 100 for four rounds. E

Ahhh, yes. I missed that you were just referring to the (T)TSX's..........but i still make take the 180's.
Really hard to tell for sure until you try them, but surely 11" twist is not ideal for them.
