OTOH I'd pit the UK's finest man for man against anybody.....

[quote=chapped_lips]Pete.....if by "Police" you mean the Bobbies in the UK the article states "surprise warrantless" searches. I saw that. I wonder if somewhere in all that BS paperwork they have to go through with all the gun regulations if they didn't sign something that gives permission for that? This is what was done in Canada, IIRC in and around 1992 / 93. Started with "Restricted Weapons" e.g. Registered Pistol Permits. by LEGISLATION, and legislation alone, one's existing permit segued off into becoming a de facto warrant for inspection, ANY TIME that the district RCMP felt that this was appropo. That's the year I split, and came home Given what happened to almost ALL the firearms long and short during the flooding in High River Alberta last year, I'd say that in the ensuing 22-23 years that even having an "FAC" (Firearms Acquisition Certificate) came to subtend to the same defacto warrant. Maybe some of the Calgary Campfire bunch will throw in with their take on this. GTC

Pete.....if by "Police" you mean the Bobbies in the UK the article states "surprise warrantless" searches. The main thing here is that law has not changed and as the Home Office notes state themselves they have no new powers to enter a premises. As I understand it, the Police have to have specific grounds to enter a premises without a warrant, something along the lines of a crime being in progress or some sort of imminent threat. I have no doubt some Forces will jump on the band wagon and try institute "routine" inspections, but it will be interesting to see what happens when folks say "Not without a warrant"..

The problem isn't what the Brits do. The problem is that there are politician's that think those type of laws would be a good idea here and you all aren't voting against them. Why are you so eager to put it off? Do you think that if your votes manage to delay the confiscators until after you're dead, your choldren and grandchildren will have a better chance to deal with them, after more decades of shrinking the gun culture? No. Legal defenses of gun rights amount to a retreating rear-guard action these days. We, today, right now, have a better chance of defending our gun rights in an extra-legal manner than anyone in the foreseeable future will. I say let 'em bring it on. We can't all live forever anyway. My kids are grown; how about yours?

The Brits are getting farther and farther away from the Magna Carta -a shame, really.

Those remaining in England are invested in socialism. The ones who had an entreprenurial spirit and a love of freedom left for other lands. Those remaing choose alcohol and staying drunk as good enough.
Thats why. Still the stupid ass as usual eh Dinny!
