Bill was a great guy. I miss him too. Even though I have never met him, he always made a guy feel like a friend

I still think about him every day. It was extra on Friday... I drove right by the place I was when his wife called me this summer. He was EXTRA excited because his son and grandson were going to come to WI to hunt with Bill at his camp this season. Bill would talk about it every time we chatted. I miss him a lot.

Today is also the day we lost my good friend Lucas Anderson to cancer 7 years ago. It hasn't gotten any easier yet, I'll tell you that!

Keep those men and all the others when your in the trees and blinds this season.

Every time we grab a rifle and head out we hunt in the memory of those that went before us. My dad, Lucas, Grizzly Bill, Uncle Dusty. Here's to their memories and all the rest that formed us, made us who we are today. May their spirits never be forgotten.

I too have been thinking of Bill often over the last month. still working on remodeling the house and he used to ask me how things were going on it from time to time. which gets my mind to drifting remembering other friends who are no longer with us.

air sure is crisp this morning. my first rifle season opens this saturday.

We're headed to the cabin this weekend for some pre season prep.

A "New" kitchen stove will be the big project this weekend. Regular full sized LP oven and range.

A real nice cabin kitchen upgrade.

Something clever here.

So I've been thinking about this new stove/oven at da camp. Think of the possibilities this opens up! And that's just what Joey can come up with. In my twisted brain, I'm imagining coming back to the camp to some fresh muffins that Joe made. Yep! Fresh cricket and earthworm muffins with taco seasoning. grin maybe a bit of Buck Jam frosting!

Things on the farm here have been so hectic that its been hard to get real excited about hunting season. Sunday I had a bit of a break so I did a quick overnite to camp to pull some cam chips and check up on things. This should help everyone's enthusiasm level....it did mine....:)

Yep, that'll do it !

Looks like he's in pretty good condition too, body size wise.

Paul, for my area of Northern Lower Michigan he is a big one body wise, I believe I have him on camera from last year...I am going to say he is 4-1/2 now....Our deer didn't have it as bad as yours last winter but they still drug bellies for 2 months in snow. Antler development among the 2-1/2 yr olds really shows it.

Here is a shot of what I think is him last year. Back hasn't sagged, body isn't as full. His main beams show the same characteristics tho. Camera date is way wrong...lol

You clearly haven't met Joe. grin

But you're right. I've lost it. Completely gone now and couldn't care less. Showed my dominance in a meeting with the power company today...the subordinate cowered with fear....he knew ( you think he didn't?) what was coming if he didn't back down. He had to walk right past the shredded coat rack to get in the job trailer. To top it off, I pee'd in HIS scrape!

I sat in the back yard on a bucket with a pellet rifle waiting for the elusive and ferocious red-squirrel that thinks my shed was built for him to chew on.

It felt like sitting in a stand. Birds all around. Rustling of leaves before you can see what is making the noise. Almost perfect.

I hope deer hunting is as successful.....

Did you pack 16 sandwiches, 4 thermos's of coffee, 5 lbs. of candy and a half a roll of T.P. If not, you were merely pretending.

Tom-my condolences on the coat rack.

I have to admit, I chased Cathy all the way across a clear cut yesterday...........

ND, Mrs. ND & "Lil Joe the deer slayer"" swung by my shop last night for a much appreciated visit. The smile on Joe's face won't be gone anytime soon as he recalls the details of his first deer. Good to see another hunter and sportsman properly instructed by a fine couple of parents. Kudos to all involved.
