I've pretty much given up on using my back button here on the 24 Hour Campfire as it takes multiple clicks for it to go back a page. It's been like that for months. No problem with it elsewhere on the internet, though.

Right clicking on the back button shows an entry for http://us-ads.openex.net for each failed attempt to go back to the previous page. Maybe that's one way of rolling up extra hits on ads? Apparently that ads.openx outfit has a history of being prone to spreading malware.

http://www.itworld.com/article/2832...-to-remove-one-and-protect-yourself.html

..."For the second time in 18 months one of the most popular sites my company manages was compromised via our ad serving platform OpenX. OpenX is a really good advertising management and delivery system that offers a self-hosted, free open source version which we have been using for around 5 years now to monetize a media site. Unfortunately OpenX has taken some poorly thought out and executed measures to attempt to monetize their open source version of the software which has introduced some major security flaws.

The way that the malware spreads is by using a database column called `append` or `prepend` to, you guessed it, append arbitrary code to the delivery of an advertisement. Once a site is infected itwill begin to serve up ads with malware attached to it. This can happen in several ways but usually comes in the form of an iframe containing malicious code or javascript attempting to download software or redirect the user to another website."

edit: More about OpenX here ~

...."Websites pull in ads from optimizers and ad networks. Proofpoint observed at least three major ad network members delivering malvertisements to website owners / publishers:
Rubicon Project
Right Media / Yahoo Advertising
OpenX ...."

I'm on this site 99% of the time with my iPhone and it is virtually impossible to navigate. Every few minutes it says problem, page reloaded..
Won't load pages, can't even type posts without freezing up. Problem might be partially on my end but like many others this is the only site that gives me trouble like that...???

Strange. I am here in Korea with a Samsung 4S and have zero problems with this site running around in a taxi or in my apartment.

No other site or forum has the issues this place has without ad blocker.

I use ad block plus on firefox and IE 11. Only once have I had to unload it and reinstall it. Some how during an update it got scrambled. But unloading it and reloading ad block plus fixed the problem. It works great on the fire and any other site I have been on. Ad block plus even works on windows 8. Just make sure you down the right one for your browser and operating system.

The forum has over 50,000 members and yet the same two dozen habitually have problems, both with their computers and the website. I can assure you it is not 24hourcampfire, their hosting, using adblock, not using adblock, IE, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, or any other browser. You are the problem.

Educate yourself, even if it hurts.

Easy mode:
Backup your photos/tax info/documents/videos/porn to a separate external drive
Wipe your computer down (DBAN Darik's Boot and Nuke)
Install a fresh copy of Windows
Install a free antivirus (I like AVG, others like AVAST)
Run windows updates
Install Google Chrome, and then install the FREE ad-on 'AdBlocker'

K.I.S.S.

God Tier Easy Mode:
Go buy a Mac
Install Google chrome, and then install the FREE ad-on 'AdBlocker'

Anything other than the above two options is a waste of time. No sense spending hours upon hours in a ham-fisted attempt to 'fix' your computer when you really have no earthly clue what you're doing. +P+

So it is not the site but in order for this site to work properly you must install ad-blocker or perform any other number of tricks that seem to keep this site running properly while all other sites and forums people visit run fine without all the added stuff?

Yeah, this site has no issues. GMAFB
