This is an awesome model 36A-DL sporting rifle. Incredible condition. Perfect bore. You won't find a nicer one. All original ,no extra holes. Try to find one of these with no sling swivel holes. Check out the Wood !!!! $750.00 shipped ( not a 336 ADL ) smile

There were 3 variations to the model 36A. This being the last. Not to be confused with the 336 ADL that sported a Bishop stock with Raised cheek and checkering. This model was made in 1947. The model 36 was produced from 1936 to 1948 and replaced with the current designation the 336. This rifle has Ballard rifling not Micro groove.

I have only read about these and have never shot one. According to what I have read, these are some of the most accurate .30-30's ever built.

Bump for an impressive specimen!

To me the triggers are very nice on these as compared to later models.

There may be some confusion between the Model 36 A-DL and the 336 ADL
I will try to shed some light on what I know.
I have owned (3) 336 adl's They are a totally diffrent beast. They came out after the the model 36 post 1948 when the designation changed to 336. I sold all 3 for in excess of $1000.00 each. Some say that they used 336 adl barrels on model 36's which makes no sence. The 336 "ADL" 1st variation 1948 to 1956 and the 2nd variation 1957 to 1962 (second model, equiped with a Monte Carlo stock and raised cheek piece) I have owned 2 other 36 A-dl both 30-30's both have none checkered stocks.

This is a 336 ADL 50's vintage:

Can you tell me what it says on the action, looks like Marlin Safety, but can't be sure. I can't afford it, unless you want to trade a 336 for it, maybe a 336 and a 39a?

Yar,

A beautiful rifle to have survived all these years not being drilled and tapped.

Never seen a rifle like that. That last one w/checkered stocks, short magazine, and monte carlo is one 30-30 I wouldn't mind owning. powdr

It looks to be drilled and tapped on the side for a peep. Once again, marlin beat winchester to the punch.
