I would have to dig for the documentation but Yankee Kansas was going to be strictly "whites only" by state law.

There is a book, called "Albion's Seed" that shows immigration patterns and voting tendencies. It almost perfectly mirrors what we see today with a few modern variations for Yankee infiltration of places like Florida and Virginia and Southern infiltration of places like Kansas.
Basically, the Yankees spread from New England to the upper Great Lakes regions and then to the West coast. Scots-Irish people settled the South and their immigration settled the West out to Arizona and up to the Canadian border. Now go look at the Blue verses Red states.
We are and always have been two distinct and separate peoples shoe horned into a federal union. The more controlling that union gets, the more trouble there will be. DITTOS.

Just a little FYI- For anyone that lives west of the Mississippi river, the term "Yankee" means a baseball team from the Bronx.
Now carry on with the usual diatribe that gets regurgitated in the campfire section at least six times a year.

The civil war was fought to destroy the economy of the south. The south had to fall because they were printing their own money and competing with the USA. Us Southerner's have known this for years! Only Libertard friggin Yankees still claim it was fought over slavery! My ancestors got In their wagons and moved to TX after the damn Yankees burned down our family Plantations in Mississippi & Alabama. I've still got both of their S/S shotguns they brought to TX with them. Pretty much all they had left, except for the clothes they were wearing. And yep, I'm still pissed about it.

I don't know how many perished at Gettysburg or Shiloh, but I do know how many died in Italy, Germany, Korea and Vietnam and I'm extremely proud of my ancestors and my American Heritage. The atrocities that the Indian's committed on the settlers of the west piss me off and keep me up at night. I make a point of stealing 20 Sweet & Low packets every time I'm at the reservation casino in retribution. It may not seem like much, but over time I know it will make an impact.

You can trace it right through from abolitionism, women's suffrage, temperance, and half a dozen other progressive causes right up to today. And always, the people they accused of standing in their way, of being backwards, and of being the sole cause for them not being able to bring in the kingdom were the Southerners and assorted groups of dirty immigrants and other undesirables. They've always been hateful, spiteful, intolerant pricks from day one to today. They are the root of all evil in our country.

Confederate Alexander H Stephens said what the Civil War was about in his Cornerstone Speech of 1861. The southern economy was based on slavery and prior to the war, the southern power structure tried to expand the slave economy into all of the new territories of the United States including Oregon.
Amazing how revisionist Confederate historians ignore all that.
Also interesting how members of this board turn to coarse language when folks disagree with them.
