It's a 2X Leupold that I have, sorry for the confusion on that one. The etching is hard to read on the silver scopes and the box is buried in my closet full of shooting stuff.
I turned the eyepiece all the way in and the eye relief was much better, backed it out a couple turns and it seems perfect at full arm length or with my arms slightly flexed. Pulled the gun up a dozen times or so at dusk and it was no problem getting a full view through the scope every time. Wish I had posted this last month... Thanks again!

I have Ultradots as well and they're fast, but not nearly as precise as a scope past 100 yards.
I think that really depends on the shooter. It takes practice, but you can shoot very accurately with a red dot at longer ranges.

I have hit long distance target repeatedly that my reticle completely covered.
I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first

I think a scope over 2X on a handgun would be useful only in a few, narrow applications....just MHO. I got the gun with the 4x scope and found it out the hard way

So you guys have had good luck with Ultra Dots? I want to put a red dot on a Contender in 44mag for hunting, but I want it to stand up to the recoil. Considered a scope, but from my limited experience with red dots on handguns, and then quite a bit of experience with scopes, both low power fixed and variable, I think the red dot will serve better for hunting with that Contender. My eyes turned mid-40's last year, and my eyesight got funky. Open sights are not easy anymore. Seemed to happen overnight! Try this: Trijicon RMR

I've used RMRs and prefer these: Cheaper -- a lot cheaper.
