Bluegills are yankee Bream (brim). Add a flyrod or pole with crickets and you bee's near heaven.
BTW, the skwerl cooking looks great. Killed 5 in the front yard one morning last week. Looked out there today and the yard was full again.
Thanks Maddog for getting this thread started..

But dang it, I'm trying not to get distracted. (And turkey season is in there somewhere. Turkeys are pretty laid back.)

Might could be.

I submit a dredging of seasoned flour renders academic all distinctions between bluegills/bream/sunfish/panfish and their interbreedings. smile

Tasty is the common denominator. They're all pondchickens.

Is that the same as a Goggle Eye?

I think so....

We caught more of them in moving water, like creeks , and more bluegills in still water.

We catch Goggle Eye in creeks and rivers around root wads, logs or brushy cover, occasionally rock formations, ect. I've heard them called "Warmouth" and sometimes "Big Mouth Pond Perch." Green Sunfish and Longear Sunfish are also creek and river brim fish. Bluegill and Redear are pond/lake brim around here for the most part. Crappie too of course. All fun and good eating!

...after getting skunked for only the 2nd time in my decades of deer hunting.. I got out today and got back in the Squirrel/Rabbit game.

Two shots, two Squirrels, soaking in the fridge. Sure felt good to press that trigger and bring some game home.
