Since the question posed by the thread is "Is the .375 Ruger Dead", and not "What's the Best .375 Cartridge and Why", it would appear that you're scalding the wrong hog. But, feel free to soldier on, buckaroo.😜

Unfortunately both of them are left hand.

You can get a stainless Howa barreled action shipped for ~$500. Less for blue. Barrels are available in 20" or 24", stainless or blue. Add your choice of stock, from a $60 fleabay Weatherby takeoff to McMillan, etc. Skip the laminate, as it will likely split with the .375's recoil. There are reports of that with Howa and with factory Ruger Hawkeye stocks. I like Hogue's full-aluminum bed here. The stiffer forend has a very different feel than the pillar-bedded models that you actually find in stores.

If you call them, Williams knows what part numbers to sell you for sights that screw into the factory pre-drilled and threaded holes on the Howa barrel. At least one European distributor sold them with these sights already installed.

.375 Ruger is about the rifles, not the cartridge. The dead cartridges are the 300RCM and 338RCM (using the .375 Ruger as a parent case). Rifles chambered in these have nothing to offer that the 300 and 338 WMs haven't already been supplying for decades, and the cartridges are rapidly returning to the ashes and dust they came from.

Back to Ruger. From all the load data research I've done, it seems that powders that work well for heavy-for-caliber bullets in .223 and .308 also work well in .375 Ruger. Seems to be something there about the combination of MV and proportions of case capacity/length/diameter and bore diameter. I'd be interested to see some loads in the newer powders like Power Pro 2000-MR that are providing good results in those smaller cases. Factory data just isn't going there.

Interesting and entertaining. I'm a VERY big fan of Ruger, own numerous, some for over 50 years. Thus I truly enjoy the positive comments and accolades for them.

My first rifles were Mauser, Fabrique National Belgium barreled actions. I bought semi finished stocks from Herter's, finished them and glass bedded. Some Ruger rifles are the closest to Mausers on planet earth, the exception the safety i,e, the Mauser cross bolt flip while the Ruger is one side flip 3 position.

In reality the .375 Ruger is not some earth shattering break through. How it compares to the old and venerable .375 H& H magnum is that it is a shorter, fatter cartridge. Winchester came out with these short, fatter magnums years ago. The shortened case allows using so called standard actions whereas the new generation of Mauser resurrected productions use the Mauser doube bridge action which is really up there in price.

Also in reality the .375 Ruger is most definitely sub performance to many of the 3 dozen .375 calibers on the market.

A lot of Rugers success is due to spiel, advertising, promotion and successful salesmanship. But the gun is well engineered and can stand on it's own merit.
