Your gettin a lot of CLASS for $900.00, even with a side mount and recoil pad. Buy it, use it and ENJOY it because there aren't many around. Thanks...Bill.

Enough of the Hamlet......go buy the damn thing and be done with it. It's a great deal. Put a nice classic pad on, replace the scope, and go hunting with one of the finest rifles ever made.

I very much agree with the "class" part. After careful evaluation, I have decided to get the rifle. I think having a Supergrade pre-64 in 270 will raise the class factor in the neighborhood that I have living in my safe. Even with the pad and holes. I will post a new thread with a few pictures of the rifle. Life is too short and it is only green paper.

All the best to you...
Jeff

RAS,

I may be kinda weird but if I get a fine rifle that has extra holes, it only takes a little while for me to "accept" them and get on with life. Enjoy one of the finest rifles ever made. Thanks...Bill.

Jeff

I am glad you are thinking strongly of buying it and I am sure you will be very happy with it. It is a great rifle-cartridge combo and should serve you well as well as those in the future who are lucky enough to use it. It is something that not everyone has one of today for sure.

As Model70Man said you will no doubt forget there are modifications to it once you have it for awhile, and the model 70s made at that time were still put together well and the quality control was still pretty good at Winchester.

You are so right when you say "Life is too short and it is only green paper." Someone I knew used to say "It's only money, it ain't blood". It's good to remember sayings like these at times.
