While I haven't compared them directly I have done the next best thing, I have compared a current model FX3 6x42 and Weaver Super Slam 2-10x50(should be the same glass as VX3 vs current Grand Slam)...the FX3 was a bit brighter than the Super Slam at 6x, however the Super Slam had a bit sharper image to my eye. I would honestly call it a draw and really don't think either of them would be a poor choice.
